former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has said bad governance is responsible for the worsening security challenges facing Nigeria. He stated this on Thursday as the keynote speaker at the Pre-Inaugural Lecture organised in honour of Umaru Bago Mohammed, the governor-elect of Niger State. He said the prevailing national security challenges in Nigeria were caused by poor management of complex diversity and poor governance complicated by heightened mobilisation of ethno-religious identities, especially during political and electoral contests. Also speaking at the occasion, the former governor of Kano State and presidential candidate in the last election on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso warned the governor-elect to be wary of bad eggs around him.
