APGA convention: Merchants, buccaneers
planning coup against Soludo

By Denis obiezealu

Stakeholders in the All Progressives Grand Alliance( APGA) have raised the alarm over plans by those they called political merchants and buccaneers to hijack the party from the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

They said the cabals are planning to take over total control of the party from the governor by sponsoring anti- Soludo candidates as leaders of the party in the party's National Convention slated for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 31,2023.

As a consequence, they have called on the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo to come out and save the party from the hawks.

The concerned APGA members in a statement on Tuesday signed by Amabu Ejiofor (from Anambra Central) said the cabals are led by erstwhile House of Representatives members from Anambra East Local Government Area and his counterpart from Nnewi, in the Anambra South Senatorial District of the state.

They said, " A bigwig in APGA in Anambra Central is behind the buccaneers. They want to sell out this party to the opposition because of 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.

"The cabals are sponsoring a certain lawyer who spearheaded the extortion of candidates in Imo State and in other South-East States in 2019 that has polarized APGA till date.

" Soludo should know this before it's too late for him. The people are ganging up against a preferred candidate by the grassroots members.

"If this preferred candidate by the masses is stopped by these cabals' shinanigans , these merchants who had held APGA down for years would continue their merchandising of the party and that will be the end of history.

"The political merchants in APGA are telling lies to convince Prof Chukwuma Soludo not to support this candidate for the APGA National Chairmanship position because according to them he (the candidate) has an independent mind and could not be controlled.

" This candidate should be the national chairman of APGA to stop the trading in APGA in naira and dollar by certain people over the years. This their attitude is killing APGA.

"Our preferred candidate has the same progressive agenda and mind with Prof Chukwuma Soludo. The two should work together to take APGA to the real next level.

Continuing Ejiofor said, "Our candidate is an experienced politician. He will stop this rubbish that has almost killed our party, especially in the South-East .He has Solution-based agenda in line with Soludo's thinking and philosophy."
