4000MW achievement: FG raises CEOs pay by 50%

In a bid to appreciate their efforts at increasing the country's electricity generation to 4000 megawatts in the last few months, the Federal Government has increased the salaries of the power generating and distribution firms' chief executive officers by 50 per cent.

The gesture is to encourage them to sustain the momentum in order to meet the government's electricity projection for this year.

A statement on Tuesday said feelers to this effect were given on Monday, as the Minister of Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji, praised the determination of the CEOs. They were said to have pushed power generation beyond 4000MW excluding the 268MW spinning reserves, being the first in the nation's history.

Nnaji, who congratulated the CEOs, also conveyed the appreciation of President Goodluck Jonathan to them for their efforts, pointing out that it woud boost their morale.
