But think about this as regards the subsidy removal and d liberalization of the downstream. This will surely affect d price of PMS as result of new entrants into d market that will break the Dangote Monopoly. We are expecting PH refinery to be functional from December according to NNPCL and another moribund by next year. So, in all, the price petroleum products will crash as well.
From available figures, government pay a monthly N400b subsidy to importers of these essentials. Now that the subsidy regime is over, half of that money should be given to Nigerians through their BVN as palliative. Assuming our population is 250m, you can work out the mathematics. The palliatives should come from there while the remaining 200b should be used to finish up the refinery. The palliatives should be provided for four years to all Nigerians. But only to the livin

government is owing g 2.3 trillion. For subsidy alone not to talk of other debt
They have not been paying
The earlier folk like you grasp this the better. Yes government budgeted for it but they cannot raise the money

So your suggestion about how to spend money that doesn't exist anywhere is not well informed

I don't think you grasp the seriousness of what is on ground.
If government succeeds in borrowing 2. 3trillion today if will be to pay a backlog Then they now borrow to fund what you are suggesting.
How will they pay

93% of revenue today is going to debt servicing
The country is nearly bankrupt
We are fetching water with a basket

This subsidy is just the beginning
Do you know electricity is subsidised too?

Taxes will have to go up to pay for debt on ground and there will be job cuts in the public sector

Stop kidding yourself that there is some money somewhere that can be redirected to another purpose
