So, I saw this tweet on my TL that a brutal and violent protest is going on presently in Senegal, but doesn't go well with senegans on tweeter because the situation has been intentionally underreported.
Not even with the usage of VPN app.

How come this is not given the kind of media attention one would av expected it to get.

Hands have been directed on Elon Musk, the C. E. O of Twitter for an allege connivance with state actors to make sure the incident doesn't see the light of the day....

Africa and Africans should create their own media space and stop whining like a drenced horse. You want a white man to help you broadcast what black people are doing to black people.

Free speech from Elon Musk? Make una dey try grow sense. Most Africans, especially Nigerians are unaware of how white supremacy around the world works. They think it’s dead. Lol

Educated Nigerians are the biggest defenders of white supremacy. The higher their degrees the more they defend white supremacy.

Even if the app belongs to an African, it might not have made the situation different because this is more political and don't forget the owner does not only make more from Europeans users but all his users globally.

At the bolded....you should watch channels like Al Jazzera Englisch.(They have a reporter on ground who has been doing reports for the past week or so, if not longer)

But basically, what is happening is that Senegal faces elections next year, and the main opposition candidate is on the verge of getting banned from the election because he just got convicted of statutory rape...(girl was a minor legally at the time of the rape)....and his supporters are not amused.

I wouldn't dispute this, however, don't you think making this news available on the social handles like Twitter will make it circulate quicker than on Ajazeera? How many people have time to watch Ajazeera TV like having a quick access on social media.

The Endsars protest basically took off on Twitter and became accessible to the world.

The Violence has been going on over a month a now.

There was a time, three people were reported to have died from a clash between the government and the youths of a community in Dakar.

Nine people were killed on Thursday after the opposition Ousmane Sonko was sentenced to two years in prison and faces disqualification from Senegal's next year election.

Another problem is Senegal is a francophone country...so news may be spreading on the Francophone newsphere, not the Anglophone newsphere. (unless some English speaking channel adopts the story like Al Jazeera English)

The people of Senegal should switch to free speech social media like Mastodon

Francophone or Anglophone news will easily trend on handles like Twitter and what have you.....People believe that when they update on Twitter, it will travel faster than on any other means of disbursing news. I think there is a kind of conspiracy going on within the political affairs in that country that could be used as a tool to keep it out of reach
