Residents of Enugu metropolis, Monday stayed in doors despite Governor Peter Mbah’s directive ending the IPOB declared sit-at-home action in the South East region of Nigeria.

The new Governor had told journalists after his first security meeting that the weekly Monday civil disobedience was impacting negatively on the economic and social life of the State, directing an immediate end to the action.

But on Monday, the streets and roads of the city remained empty of human and vehicular traffic as some youth turned them to playgrounds.

The school premises had no pupils and students, while banks and other financial institutions were under lock.

The already biting energy crisis in the State was made worse as petrol stations did not open.

Reports say major markets and other business areas like the Ogbete, Holy Ghost, New Market, Camp, old Artisan, New Heaven, Ogui Road, Independence Layout, Garki, Abakpa, were all out of operations, at the time of this report.

No one could speak on camera on why they are not complying with the order of Governor Mbah, ending the sit-at-home action.

Sources say, the fear of being attacked by gunmen may have informed people’s decision to stay indoors as a broadcast purported to be from the Spain-based factional leader of IPOB, Simon Ekpa allegedly warning of dire consequences of a disobedience, is said to be circulating in the social media.

ait.live crew in Enugu reports that security agents were not sighted anywhere, though a helicopter suspected to be on security surveillance was sighted in the sky making a few intermittent flights.

Since the police officers can't protect themselves from ipob miscreants, what do you expect the citizens to do other than to remain indoors tongue

Peter Mbah is a stupid dunce.

This same approach he is trying to use in Enugu was what Soludo tried when he became governor in Anambra and it ended disastrously yet Mbah chose to toe same path.

Sometimes you wonder if these guys live in a hole before coming to power.
