Arise TV Host and on-air personality Rufai Oseni has identified poor planning as the major challenge confronting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu had on Wednesday directed the National Economic Council to come up with inputs on palliatives and the minimum wage review as part of measures to cushion the pain of subsidy removal.

The president who spoke during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State in Abuja also directed NEC led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to mobilise various interventions to cushion the hardship faced by the most vulnerable Nigerians.

While analysing the president’s statement on Thursday, Oseni said it is unfortunate that the president has no plans in place for the masses when he declared that ‘subsidy is gone’ in his inaugural speech.

He said “One thing has been said that has dogged this administration- poor planning. The best way to plan is to set your priorities right but the effect of poor planning is incumbent failure. I hope they watch it!

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a big mistake by saying ‘subsidy is gone’ during his inaugural speech without planning for it. And now, he is trying to plan after making the statement. It is always very hard and that is what we are seeing play out”.

Tinubu actually didn't have much plan in place rather than to be called a President. During his campaign he even said he'd rule Nigeria without borrowing from anyone and so instructed Buhari to print more notes to solve internal issues rather than borrowing for such purpose, of which Buhari totally ignored and kept borrowing up and down for even payment of salaries and palliatives. However, the people in Tinubu administrative circles are who matters most and not actually him. If I were him, I would totally ignore El Rufai and Wike in my government.

How long would the planning of eradicating Boko Haram and other criminals would take?

How many board committees to be expected?

People always underestimate their enemies

While Tinubu is planning to deal with subsidy they would be planning how to mess it up.

Tinubu style simply took everyone by surprise especially those profiting from subsidy

Tinubu obviously was aware Buhari wasn't doing a good job but he couldn't criticise him because of the northern support he needed. I believe his plan is once he enters he'll correct all the mistakes Buhari made. But the level of damage done is huge. He really needs a competent team of technocrats around him. I hope he can work with Ambode. The man is sound and despite all that happened Tinubu should forgive and work with him.

The problem of Nigeria has never been planning, but execution.

Abdulslami, Obasanjo, Buhari, Yar'Adua and Goatluck have planned, Emuilokan Tinubu is now executing.

What General Abdulslami, General Obasanjo, General Buhari, Alhjaji Yar'Adua and Deacon Dr. Goatluck could not do for over 26 years, the real General, Emilokan Bola Ahmed Tinubu did it in the first 30 minutes of his administration. Now, we know the real General.

Rufai Useni should go and bring his useless biological father out to tell us what he has planned and executed in his life

Buhari did not make provision for subsidy in the budget.

Tinubu simply told us there was no provision for subsidy by the previous administration, therefore the subsidy was gone.

Whoever blames Tinubu for removing subsidy is clever by half. Buhari removed subsidy.

Oseni is apt on this one- very correct. It would have been better for the government to sustain the subsidy for an extra month or two while they build a strong landing fortress for the masses. Since Bubu made provision for June subsidy as said, Tinubu could have added July, have high impact stakeholders meetings and agreements and by July implementation starts. His announcement should have come with concrete plans for the masses.
