Some people don't get the picture. It means naira is losing value.

That 500,000 naira in your account on May 29th this year is now worth around 300,000 naira and would reduce further.

If you think your own value has not reduced too, then you have been deceived.

Dangote is not responsible for your predicaments or that of other millions of Nigerians. Hold our government accountable first.

Last year when I told some of you that my cousin is one of the contractor in Dangote refinery and he said that refinery won't be ready until around December 2025 some people insulted me.

It's mid 2023 already o.

Dangote refinery lack funds contractors are complaining and waiting for funds to show. And things are not looking good for now.

Bookmark this post. The refinery will start processing crude oil in November/December 2025

Very soon cars will start using CNG and all it takes is to convert your vehicle to a 'autogas' system. Technically referred to as dual fuel vehicles. The existing petrol/diesel tank is unaltered within converted vehicles, owners can choose at the flick of a switch which fuel they wish to drive on. Relying on Dangote is regression and we don't need it. We move!

Nonsense!

How is the ordinary man's Naira losing value?

It is clear it is you that do not get the picture.

Petrol importers were getting dollars at N460 at the CBN window. Now that the exchange rate has been merged, petrol importers will be getting dollars between N640 -N750. This means that prices of things will further increase, thus reducing the value of the Naira in every Nigerian's bank account.

Dangote is your enemy simply because he is not from your Ibo tribe.

Why not focus your energy on how to make it in life and stop hating on successful people simply because they are not Ibos?

Nigerian might not know but they have also lost $14billion .. The only people smiling are those who have money in the abroad or in Foreign Currencies.. In as much as floating the Naira might look good on paper they are so many things that needs to be put in place, especially if you want market forces to determine the value of your currency, you can't avoid to be importing like someone dey shepe fun and you have to recharge your productive sector ... It is 9:32 am now Ibedc still never shake body ... Someone in the U.S who have constant electricity is already beating me to the battle .

This is Economic warfare season , you can't be catch napping.

Ibos are bitter and hateful !

They hate Dangote simply because he is not Ibo.

The bitterness made your ancestors planned the coup of 1966, just to eliminate the leaders from other regions simply because South East was lagging behind.

No the value on their naira based wealth depreciated due to floating of naira.

Their wealth was based on 465 to a dollar now 750 to a dollar. Nothing about benefiting. Your own purchasing power has reduced too

Dem say go school, you say na scam. grin

What the report is saying in other words is that every asset and income of these two is based on naira, the calculation of their assets by Forbes and Bloomberg however is done in USD - meaning whenever their assets are to be quoted in USD, the value is exchanged with the prevailing naira-dollar rate.

Other words, you have $1000 before 2019 when naira was say 500, this makes the value of your wealth N500,000. Now naira is 1000/$, this makes the value of your $1000 N1,000,000 without you doing anything to increase or decrease it.

Go school.

They are very stupid without thinking. Just leave them

This story of the naira gaining strength against the dollar is the same story that was sold to IBB era during the failed structural adjustment programme where they keep telling us to keep devaluing the naira.

Statistically, have you check the if the naira ever gain value on the long run since 1980 till date?

you very wrong.. Nothing reduced in your own money value because you don't have access to the CBN Window Dangote and Samad has access to 99.5% of Nigerians were sourcing their own money from the black market.. So no change in value oga.
Exactly! Their loses could have been more if not for the about 12% value the naira gained in the open fx market according to the report.

On the stock exchange, their wealth was calculated at 450 to the dollar

It is now 660 to the dollar

That’s the biggest lose factor plus their lack of access to cheap rates for their imports etc.

If you are from the SS, your foredaddies in 1967 gave the oil wealth of the SS and political power to the north from where the Dangotes and Rabius profited. 1967 was when some misguided people from the SS cut out the SS from Biafra. That greatly led to collapse of the new country which would have been like Dubai before now.
