|Kai Havertz: 5 Reasons German Star Is Dumping Chelsea For Rivals Arsenal by DonBabaNG: 2:21pm On Jun 22, 2023
It is no more a surprise Kai Havertz is interested in playing for London rivals Arsenal after having a torrid time with Chelsea.
Kai Havertz is one of the Chelsea players leaving Stamford Bridge this summer and his destination is London rivals Arsenal.
Since joining the Blues back in 2020 for £71m, the German attacker has only been able to win the Champions League.
The 24-year-old is now close to joining Arsenal after spending just three seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Here are five reason Havertz wants to leave Chelsea to join Arsenal
1. He has not justified his £71m signing
Chelsea coughed out £71m to sign Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen as a 21-year-old but he failed to live up to the billing.
The German was tagged the new Frank Lampard due to his scoring abilities as a midfielder but he has been unable to bring that spark as the Chelsea legend.
2. He has been played out of position
On his arrival in London, Havertz would have been promised to play in his natural role behind a striker but things went south when Chelsea’s forwards were not scoring.
Havertz then played mostly as a number nine and this limited him in reaching his full potential as an attacking midfielder.
3. No continental football for Chelsea
Chelsea finished in a disappointing 12th position last season and will not be playing in any of the continental competitions in Europe.
This means the club have been unable to meet Havertz's ambition as a player and high rising Arsenal is a preferred option for the German.
4. He might not like the idea of rebuilding
Havertz came into the emerging Frank Lampard’s squad and going through that phase under Mauricio Pochettino might be too much to handle for him.
Every player wants to step up into the next level of their respective careers and playing under Mikel Arteta is not a bad idea to raise his game.
5. Winning the Premier League is out of sight for Chelsea
Realistically, Chelsea with the new crop of players can only win the league in the next two or three years.
Havertz has spent three years in England already without winning any of the domestic titles and it is high time he moved to another club who have Premier League credentials.
