Infeasible rubbish.
If I don't have social media handles, you can't stop me from banking. There is no legal basis to it.
All our Papas and Mamas wey get account for Union bank, Wema and Ecobank, na you go create twitter account give dem...

Seems the new CBN chief just wants to fool around with empty policies by blowing hot air.

Slowly but steadily the noose is tightened. The globalists are taking over slowly but steadily. A time will come and the time is here when all the governments of the world will monitor all the activities of their citizens under the guise of fighting terrorism.
Edward Snowden warned about this but most citizens of the world are still asleep. The world as we know it is about to change. Prepare yourself for the coming New world order.

Stupid idea that is dead on arrival.

First, government does not have any right to force me or anybody for that matter, to have social media account when I don't need government job or any government contract.

Secondly, people can always create new social media accounts for different purposes. Nothing stops me from quickly creating a new social media account with my real identity and give that one to the bank and make sure i don't ever use that particular handle for anything other than communicating with the bank while maintaining the others ones with fake identity for mischief or any other purpose.

Anyway, I don't want to believe CBN would be that stupid to make social media handle mandatory for having bank account when we all know there are people who don't even have android phone not to talk of knowing what social media is all about!

This is another way of stressing people. Haven't we seen so many fake social media handles.

Or they want to tell me to create fake social media handles is very difficult in this era of technology.

Please the should come with better ideas.

When NIN came they said this will reduce criminalities in the country till date people are still being scam and get away with it.

CBN should even check bank very well because some of these scamming jobs are within

This is stupid , half of Nigerian population do not even have smart phones so are you going to force them to own social media ? All Nigerians must reject this , if the banks will collapse let them collapse, the APC is taking their crimes against Nigeria too far
don't mind them, some of their praise singers are already supporting this ill-advised policy, by the government which is ultimately targeted at critics of the government's misrule.
if the government is serious to go after the real terrorists, they have more than enough information to do so, through multiple identification schemes like; the BVN, NIN, driver's license, birth certificate, etc.
half of Nigeria 's population are not even in social media, so does it mean that they will be denied essential banking services.
this is like chasing after shadows.

This country sef. They don't seem to get anything right. What happened to our NIN, linkage of phone numbers to NIN? Or even BVN. Is that enough. Well I will tell them that I don't do social media.

CBN has no meaningful ideas. In a world where people create fake social media accounts? Sometimes I wonder if this people think or criticize thier ideas.

Every means of identifying Nigerians is good. Arguably the greatest policy, act, thing, implementation, a presiding government can do for Nigeria is know Nigerians and place Nigerians as Nigerians, record them, identity them: names, place of birth, deaths, day of birth, who is who, where, age, ethnicity, gender, faith, politics, address etc. Population size...

Anonymity is destroying Nigeria quicker than poverty, infant mortality, unemployment or all the other underdevelopment indices. Nigeria can't afford the first world preoccupation with personal privacy, which in any case they, first world nations, don't observe. They know who you are, including harvesting your DNA opportunistically.

When this things starts in full you can't do nothing, you can't talk let alone lift a finger thereby you will receive the mark of the beast. This is nolonger something to joke with run to King Jesus Christ in repentance he is our only way of escape.

NIN, BVN, etc are all not enough to identify someone? Then what's the point of having them?

You don't need to understand It. it's a stupid policy which would not be implemented in any way. It's not mandatory and even if it's mandatory (in an alternate universe) there's nothing they can do with it. Banks can't use it to stop fraud or anything else, it's simply a stupid policy grin. Even bank and bankers don't know the meaning of this CBN's policy.

Okay then sir. Thank you for the explanation sir.

We have more than enough personal data to work with in Nigeria, duplication of data is what we love doing, all minus no plus. Birth certificate, NIN, Drivers Licence, International Passport, BVN, Phone Registration, Social media registration. All can be done with one data base but we behave as if we don't know all these.

Yet politicians at the highest echelons of power get away with forgery and become presidents and governors. Isn't that wonderful?
Re: Social Media Handle Mandatory KYC Requirement For Bank Customers- CBN by Ilekokonit: 10:50pm On Jun 25, 2023
Not well thought out policy. Not every one is on social media. In fact some people actively stay away from social media or use it sparingly with just an alias as user name and no photograph.

Which developed country uses social media handles to verify their customers Absolutely none.

Instead of CBN to follow international best practice, they keep coming up with impractical policies.

This is just a measure to gag the youth especially the "key board warrior" whom they perceived as being impediments to their political ambitions.

Just as they witnessed the influence of the youths using social media in the last concluded elections. This is reflected in the presidential election results in Lagos and other areas.

Politicians had to resort into manipulating election results as they never believed the influence social media had on their ambition.

This is a strategy for them to identify and punish their perceived enemies on social media. Possibly by restricting/ freezing their accounts.
