Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says President Bola Tinubu has the constitutional powers to stop any criminal trial in the country.

Ejimakor, then, urged Tinubu to use the powers vested in him by the constitution to release the IPOB leader, who is being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu’s lawyer said the president is capable of reversing the injustice of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The legal practitioner made these known in a tweet on Sunday, adding that Tinubu does not have to wait for the Supreme Court to release the IPOB leader.

Ejimakor wrote, “Under the Constitution, the AGF (in practice: the President) has the power to stop any criminal trial.

“So, President Tinubu doesn’t have to wait for the Supreme Court to undo the grave injustice (rendition) done by his predecessor by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu @officialABAT.”

Kanu is standing trial against the federal government since he was arrested and repatriated in 2021 from Kenya.

Make everybody carry him own cross oooo. We didn't vote Tinubu to release any criminals but for good governance. Tonubu didn't arrest kanu how will he release him without even any order from Curt of law? Pls BAT doesn't have the for petty sentimental Case like that of Kanu . He is a president for good governance in Nigeria not for Biafra . Ok.

Why not let the Supreme Court decide on the matter of your client instead of laying a minefield for Tinubu with regards to releasing your terrorist leader ?

If the Supreme Court does not rule in your favour, then apply for a pardon to Tinubu.

Releasing Kanu will not only buoy your feral terrorists but will also see to a floodgate of requests by Boko and Fulani herdsmen sympathisers to have their own terrorists set free

Injustice to every victim of the violent rhetoric of the Mr Kanu. In fact, it is by divine fate that the current President, also one of his victims,who Kanu instructed his followers to go destroy, is today the one being begged.

PBAT will not fall into this trap and trojan horse of meddling with criminal cases in court. This is not a political case, it is criminal and treasonable so the court must prove the guilty as guilty if not someday another govt will pick him up for resumption of the trial like the case of Adeyanju.

If Kanu had killed Tinubu as he was instructing his boys, who will the lawyer be begging now? Where is UK, UN, ECOWAS and all your international lawyers you were boasting off? I thought you brag you know the law. Why can't you just tell UK to come and release him? If Igbos in general had rally round Tinubu during last election, it would have made Tinubu become more happier and motivated to release kanu.

However, instead, Igbos hated Tinubu to their marrows spearheaded almost all court cases against him and never relent in hating him. The worst is that even if Tinubu releases him, many of them don't know how to appreciate; they will still begin to beat their chest that it is their right for kanu to be released because court never found him guilty. It is always good to learn to be moderate in many things, kanu had out stepped his boundary.

No probability that he will change for better, he will still run away to the same thing because he has no job in the first place except making money from donations from brainless donors. When his first born reaches 50years, they should release him because he has killed many people directly and indirectly through ESN. If he did not establish ESN and harm them, many they killed won't have been killed. His wings should be cut so that he won't be able to travel anywhere again outside Nigeria.

Till then, lock his prison room and give the key to Buhari in Daura and Spare Key to Asari Dokunbo to keep. People should learn that crime does not pay, releasing him now is doing injustice to those that had been killed by Ipob/esn

What the government is doing is appealing that judgment at the supreme court, which is now essentially a constitutional matter

However, three seasoned judges of the appeal court sat, and unanimously decreed that Nnamdi Kanu has no case to answer

If you read the reasons they gave for reaching the judgment, you will know that what the FG is doing at the Supreme court is a complete waste of time.

The supreme court will sit in September and release Kanu, its just a matter of time

Tinubu will either execute him for terrorism or pass him to Northern President after serving his 8years. Kanu has reached his final resting place, never coming out.

This lawyer is the one complicating Kanu's case. Deep his heart he wish Kanu is not released. Simon Ekpa alleged that Aloy Ejimakor is in romantic relationship with Kanu's Wife
