A United Kingdom based International Investigator and a former Special Investigator to the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Asset (SPIPP), Evangelist Victor Uwajeh, has called on President Bola Tinubu to strengthen the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Uwajeh, who was also an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) consultant wanted the Tinubu administration to focus on recovery of stolen funds by politically exposed persons and agents of government.

Uwajeh, in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, advised that recovery should focus on some areas which include oil subsidy scam, crude oil liftings and non-remittances, crude oil swap agreements, Offshore Crude oil processing agreements, Duty Waiver Fraud and Rice subsidy fraud.

According to the statement, Uwajeh also advised that the Tinubu administration should investigate all federal agencies of government for monumental fraud.

Evangelist Uwajeh further advised President Tinubu to have the political will to fight corruption and impunity in Nigeria.

He said: Looting of public funds have become endemic in Nigeria and this is done with impunity knowing that nothing will happen to the perpetrators of these crimes.

“It is also important for the administration of Bola Tinubu to implement the Presidential Executive Order No. 008 of 2018, (Amended 2019) on the Voluntary Offshore Assets Regularization Scheme (VOARS).

“Implementation of this Executive Order will assist the Government tremendously and will be a game changer to primitive acquisition of assets by Politically Exposed Persons and their cronies.”

While commending President Tinubu for the choice of Security Chiefs and most especially the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Uwajeh described the new NSA “an expert and very reliable compatriot.”

He, therefore, called on President Tinubu to shun mediocrity in the appointment of persons into his administration, saying “capacity and excellence must be his watchword.”

Same corruption that buhari fought and it defeated him?

Don't fight corruption.

Just make policies that will check mate corrupt practices and enforce such policies.

Like pass a bill that public office holders should not receive treatment, education and own properties abroad. Let's fix this country.

The whole world has been praising Jagaban for starting well, USA, Canada, UK and other developed nations. All my prayer is that he should not rest on his oars. Something is telling me he's going to be the best president ever. The major catalyst to his great stride would be the gang up of some regions prior to ascending this lofty height. He is going to prove them wrong and shame them all. Mark my word.

No president have ever fought and won curruption free society in Nigeria since 1960 it’s in every sector school religious house forces

Just create law that will eradicate it you can’t fight that system

All Nigerian gov since 1999 are corrupt the difference is there approach some will be allocating properties
Some will use state resources for personal business and refund back
Some outright stealing of funds it’s the 3rd one we use to call thief all are thief

At least we were made to understand that buhari had policies like TSA, BVN, whistle blowing, unbonding of NNPCL, Abacha loot recovery.
Although these policies didn't get to nail the kingpins of corruption but it sha had it's weight in the corruption fight

See what EU Mission Observers wrote about the election that produced your saviour:

The 2023 general elections did not ensure a well-run transparent, and inclusive democratic process as assured by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) has said.
The EU EOM noted that shortcomings in the law and electoral administration hindered the conduct of well-run and inclusive elections and damaged trust in INEC.

In its final report released on Tuesday in Abuja, the EU EOM said public confidence and trust in INEC were severely damaged during the presidential poll and were not restored in state-level elections, leading civil society to call for an independent audit of the entire process.

“The widely welcomed Electoral Act 2022 (the 2022 Act) introduced measures aimed at building stakeholder trust. However, the Act’s first test in a general election revealed crucial gaps in terms of INEC’s accountability and transparency, proved to be insufficiently elaborated, and lacked clear provisions for timely and efficient implementation.

“Weak points include a lack of INEC independent structures and capacities to enforce sanctions for electoral offences and breaches of campaign finance rules.

“Furthermore, the presidential selection of INEC leadership at the federal and state level leaves the electoral institution vulnerable to the perception of partiality. Closer to the polls some started to doubt INEC’s administrative and operational efficiency and in-house capacity. Public confidence gradually decreased and was severely damaged on 25 February due to its operational failures and lack of transparency.

It's sheer idiocy to think that a person who purchased the presidency with his hard-earned money will perform well.

What Tinubu has done so far is to shift the burden the government used to bear to the people. There's nothing to celebrate there!

In the reality of Nigeria... Almost if not all government agencies are dem corrupt from the cleaner, security to the Oga of such agencies are too corrupt. The best bet is to actually make policies that will control these corrupt practices and persecute who ever is found guilty regardless of who the person is.
