Rivers: Police Officer Donate Books To Ignatius Ajuru University

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Rivers state, Moses Ogechi Udu, has donated some copies of ten (10) titles of his books to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.

The police top rank, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at the university, disclosed that the donation was part of his contribution to the enlargement of the institution’s library, particularly in security studies.

He applauded the Acting Vice-Chancellor for the policies of his administration which are aimed at improving the students’ entrepreneurial skills and subsequently improve their employability on graduation, describing it as a proactive policy.

ACP Udu also extolled the vice-chancellor for the low level of involvement of students of the institution in drug-induced crimes and other social vices in and outside the university.

A former student of the Turkish Academy of Drugs and Organised Crime, the security expert noted that traditional rulers occupy fundamental positions in the fight against crime and criminality in their domains. He is a leading force in the onslaught against criminal elements in Rivers State.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police also cautioned Youth against criminality while urging them to cooperate with the Police command in the state led by CP Emeka Nwonyi to ensure adequate and effective policing.

Responding, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Onuchuku, commended the security chief for his thoughtfulness in donating the books, describing it as rare.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, while reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance for all forms of social vices, reaffirmed his commitment to the safety of students and staff on the campuses of the university.

However, he assured that he would not hesitate to hand over any staff or student who contravenes the laws of the university or the state to security agencies.
