The Youth of Nigeria

We were the youth of yesterday,
We cried out against the old ways,
We said we'd change the system,
We'd bring an end to all the fraud.

We said we'd make Nigeria great,
We'd build a nation free from hate,
We'd create a better future,
For all our children and our kin.

But now we're old, and we're in power,
And we've become the very thing we fought against.
We've become corrupt and greedy,
We've forgotten all our lofty words.

We've sold our souls for power and wealth,
We've turned our backs on the poor and weak,
We've become the very thing we hated,
And we've left our children with a legacy of shame.

We're the youth of Nigeria,
We're the ones who are supposed to lead,
But we've failed our people,
We've failed our country,
We've failed ourselves.

What is the point of this poem? Nigeria has been a useless country from the beginning...develop skills that are well sought abroad and leave the country

Oya stay now while the elite continue to fund their lifestyles on your tax and leave you to struggle maybe your brain go reset...you're not the first person to make that statement that you made you're most likely still in the university.
