A top Commander of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād also known as Boko Haram, Khaid Malam Ali and his lieutenant Bunu Umar has surrendered to the troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North East of Borno state.

Ali and his fighters were reportedly dislodged by the ISWAP terrorists group after they coordinated a raid at the hideouts of Boko Haram in Bula Alhaji Garwaye in the fringes of Sambisa forest Near Bama LGA on, July 5, 2023

Vanguard earlier reported last week how the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), killed scores of Boko Haram fighters, including their women and children.

Sources told Vanguard on Sunday that “Ali was a Commander of the terrorists in Sabil Huda and Njumia. He laid down his arms due to the fear of Battle field elimination.”

Recall that Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) had last week killed scores of Boko Haram fighters, including their women and children.

Eight Judges Assigned For Trial Of 2,000 Boko Haram Members
Meanwhile, the Federal Government is making preparations to begin the trial of approximately 2,000 Boko Haram members.

These individuals have been detained for involvement in terror activities, and the trial is to be handled by a team of eight judges.

The trials are set to occur in Kainji, Niger State, within a secured environment provided by the special security group, Operation Safe Corridor. Many of the suspects are already held in detention at this facility.

While the trial’s plans were established under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, logistical issues have caused delays.

Notably, the Ministry of Justice had requested that the Nigerian Air Force transport the judges and lawyers involved in the proceedings.

However, this request was not met with a positive response. With this hurdle, the commencement of the trials was stalled
