What's the major cause of the rise of cyber crimes and hookups amongst the youth in the South and Eastern Nigeria ?

It is increasing across board .
Bad governance and moral decadence is the maintenance reason.

This things have been happening for decades but it's not widespread knowledge as it is now,for obvious reasons like technology.
I remember young teenage classmates of mine were accused of leaving school for prostitution,that was 2 decades ago.
This vices had been around and will keep getting worse as population, civilization and poverty increase.
It is left for you as a parent to guide your children in the way of the Lord

Civilization and technological advances
Poverty
Greed and need to get rich as soon as possible and at all cost.

Just like beastiality and homosexualism is rampant in the north

Because of unemployment, simple!

Even in the north.

Even in the north , prostitution is much now...

Not giving a nod of approval to the increase ugly menace in the present society..

But, when was the last time the government come out and talked about creation of jobs, skill acquisition for the teeming Youths and her citizenry 🤔

Bad and evil leaders have 80% of the blame here.. BITTER TRUTH! ☹️

The causes are:
1. Getting rich quicker mentality: The mentality that I must make it by all means to flash or entice the people

2. Laziness: They are very lazy to do menial jobs for survival. Look at those from northern states, they can do menial jobs like carrying loads in the market for survival.

3. Superiority complex: because you graduated from school, you can't do menial jobs like carrying loads in the market but when they travel outside the country, they can do toilet washing jobs, a job that they can't do in their country.

4. The preaching of prosperity: The churches in the country are contributing to this also because of the preaching of prosperity. Go to northern state churches and compare them to southern churches for what they are preaching in the church.

5. Preaching of one man for one woman: Prostitution will continue to increase due to the operation of one man for one woman in the marriage. What of those single mothers, and widows that have no husband, who will marry them when you have the orientation of one man and one woman?

6. Education: This also contributes to the issue because nobody wants to learn skills like bricklayer, carpenter, etc anymore. Those who know and those who do not know, want to go to higher institutions. For those who have the means or those who have no means, the parents want to sponsor their children to school. Go and check those who learn a little hand skill, they are enjoying the jobs unlike those who go to higher institutions.

7. Corruption mentality: They have the blood of corruption more than those in the northern states. Mistakenly lost your phone or Atm card, the next thing is to receive an alert from your account but in the north, nobody knows how to hack your account, you will be at rest that nobody will tamper with your account if you mistakenly lose your phone or Atm card in the north.

The difference is clear...abokis up north prefer to line up at every alhaji's gate for food everyday..why an average southern man hustles for his meal in whatever way...na u call am yahoo and prostitution...all na hustling

It is a survival instinct..methinks.
