Quick Questions:

1. Was any crude oil fraction discovered?
2. If yes, was it deemed manageable enough for use?
3. If yes, how much did it cost to refine those fractions?
4. Does it provide a viable alternative for us with the high cost of PMS amongst others?

Finally, if it could be done so efficiently by underdogs in the game (assuming pollution can be taken care of with proper management), why are our refineries not working yet?
I wonder oooo.

The refineries been destroyed are not modular refineries, do you know the cost of setting up a modular refinery, refineries are not operated like road side mechanic, such crude practice of cooking Crude oil in drums and sale of its final product is totally unacceptable...We can't can't legalize illegality due to scarcity, if allowed then someday illegal drugs will be legalized...

lol ! if they are not modular refineries then what other name is left to called a sumplified cheap process of refining crude .. consult google
A whole gaint of africa can't boast of one functional refineries despite all the billions spent, instead they the govt choose to clamp down on modular refineries, instead of destroying those structure why can't the Govt integrate those local modular refineries into a system that resonate "standard"

In a country where productivity is all time "LOW" does it make sense to be shutting down production lines .. what stop the govt from legalizing and regulating those modulars, if we can't get it big scale what forbids us from trying from small scale, the driving forces of the economic are the SMEs.

what as drug got to do with the conservation, you don't deserve a response. Majority of the things we do in Nigeria contradict common sense

The government can't refine because the can't build or maintain the available refineries and these people are refining it...
Why can can the government support them with the enablement and conducive atmosphere to expand and supply Nigerians so the importation petroleum products will reduce.

Madness! These people, with their primitive barrels and fires are refining fuel that a whole Nigeria with all the gazzilions of dollars invested over the years have not been able to do and instead of calling them to a round table, investing in them and standardizing their operations, you keep destroying them and killing them and you think you have sense... You people should keep waiting for the scam called dangote refineries and keep scorning humble beginnings Una hear... Una go still buy oetrol 800/liter

Why destroying the refineries

Why not make them legal

Thank you so much.. I wonder what is illegal about the refineries. Instead of the government to encourage and support their ideas which inturn will reduce the cost of fuel and other products of crude oil.

The illegal refinaries should have been upgraded and redeployed productively.
Why destroy what you cannot build or even maintain? Ordinary bunkerers can build ,maintain and repair refinaries productively while the government can't.
Those bunkerers caught should not be prosecuted, rather engage them to teach the government how to build, repair and manage refineries profitably

Good job
this is not a good job, when poverty rules the land you will continue to hear and see such things, what needed is a proactive plan to lift people out of poverty, you cannot expect hungry citizens to live ontop of billion of naira worth of natural resources and not misbehave,Peter obi has a better plan to legalize small scale local refiners, license them, monitor and sell crude oil to them at a reduced price,pRODA and other government agencies can build low cost turnkey refining modules that these people can use, you provide jobs directly and indirectly,it is called small medium enterprises,it is pity we don't support SMEs in Nigeria, burning and destroying such is a war against employment, our government don't have long term plan just immediate first aid reactive ideas that is counterproductive,it is funny if they think burning and destroying will stop such activities,it is like using Panadol to treat malaria

Illegal refinearies were discovered and distroyed but I have not seen a legal refineary that is working enough to relieve Nigeria from importation and unexpected increase in price of fuel. I would have suggested the seizure of such refinary and use for promoting the country resources.

Why destroying the refineries

Why not make them legal

I've always wondered. We've never heard of the fuel they refine spoiling cars so they're good at what they do. Why not fund them and build an intuition for them. Then put an overseeing body to ensure product quality, tax them etc.
Re: Military Destroys 23 Illegal Refineries, Arrests 60 Oil Thieves by lawani: 1:24pm On Jul 22, 2023
They are batch operations refineries unlike the standard flow process. It is the same way Biafra refined it's crude during the civil war. If Nigeria breaks up, they will continue with that until they are able to build a flow process refinery. They won't wait for oil from Lagos.

Obi sense 😁. Legalise illegality. So who do you issue the license to? Or you want to reward criminality? Don't worry Dangote Refinery is enough plsu Warri and PH own when it starts functioning this year.

Make them legal, by giving them license. They are creating jobs for local men. You prefer importation of fuel products. Who do Nigeria?

Imagine discovering and destroying more than 23 illegal refineries in the creeks while the whole country can not even run one legal refinery? Who do us this thing God!!!??

In a saner clime those guys would be recruited or partnered with the government to operate legally, pay taxes and make the product readily available for consumers but here we arrest them and destroy the product while our refineries lay idle for years!! Sometimes I wonder if our brain is for decoration because we no dey use am at all.
