Biafra and Nigeria

It must be restated that Nigeria would have separated in 1967 if Biafra had not invaded the Midwest and the west with their Liberation army led by Colonel Victor Banjo a Yoruba. Nigeria would have separated because Obafemi Awolowo had already made it clear that if the East secedes then the West will also secede and there were already no Northern soldiers in Western Nigeria anymore when the Biafran army reached Ore in present day Ondo state and they reached Ore after being attacked by civilians of the Midwest with some soldiers killed by civillians and that was how the west and the Midwest were drawn into the war and before that Biafra was only facing attack from the Northern direction and given their control of the coast of Eastern Nigeria they would have won the war. No country has ever embraced invaders with open arms but people like Nnamdi Kanu and co blame the Yoruba for joining the federal forces after the Biafrans invaded their land. They further blame Obafemi Awolowo for advising the FG to not continue allowing trade in foodstuffs flow to the East from Nigeria until Biafra surrenders and that was why the war was brief though Biafra would have ultimately lost given the enemies they made for themselves and the number of warfronts they engineered for themselves. The animosity remains and it will remain a setback for the country but since ownership of land is not in contention as is the case in Palestine and there are no borders against migration in the ECOWAS sphere, the right thing to do in favor of peace prosperity and development for all is to break up the country. Afterall the groups involved in the tug of war are one of the largest of Earth's ethnic groups, bigger than most nations of the world.

Biafra died long time ago.

Those who worked against others from seceding from Nigeria should bury the thoughts that those they sabotaged in the past would also support them to have their Utopia.

On this we agree. Adaka borro was done detty by the Nigerian government. Either way secession is treasonable and not allowed .

While they are obviously marginalized secession is not on the table for discussion.

Let's hope the president addresses the aggrieved parties so peace can ensue

If tomorrow Oduduwa nation deems it necessary to leave do you know this same thing would happen to them

Or you think the Yorubas would be favored forever and the East marginalized all through??

If your argument is based on what you said then you are brewing a recipe for disaster for you people in future. Cos like the people you spite today, a time ll come when you would want to leave this unholy union.

They are not smart. Instead of creating alliances before battle, they attack everyone and create enemies all around themselves. They did it in 1967, they repeated it in 2023. Same outcome in both cases.

The problem is not Biafra but Nigeria .

If Biafra had lived , an African superpower would have been born that would build space bound rockets, export refinery technology, export automobiles, planes , pharmaceutical products to the world.

But today we have an African super dwarf or midget that has defied logic, solution, therapy, resuscitation and is now ruled by people who should be behind bars , a super midget that cannot refine its fuel , maintain its power infrastructure and keep its currency in good shape.

Wailings over igbo matter , igbos have long moved on and the Nigerian state is worse off than it was in the 60s ,worse than war torn countries . Without external invasion or civil war ,thousands of innocent Nigerians have been displaced into IDP.

I have never been blatant about the idea of Biafra....but wait oo as it stands today I think the idea of Igbo biafra is suicidal because after the breakaway igbo biafra will be surrounded by Nigeria, there enemies. The will have to beg for food from Nigeria, infact the will have to beg for medicines, infant they will depend on Nigeria for survival because everything must pass through Nigeria and if Nigeria won't cooperate there's absolutely nothing they can do about it. So tell me is that not suicidal

You should brush up on your Nigerian history. Even though Awolowo said that the West would secede if the East did, the same Awolowo gladly took 2ic position in Gowons regime despite him seeing all the killings of Igbos going on in Nigeria

This was a man who had no intention of seceding.l, he was just another politician looking for political position.

When the war broke out, the Nigerian Army headed for Enugu, the Biafran Army headed for Lagos

There's no way the Biafran Army could get to Lagos without going through the Midwest

But what did Ojukwu do when he invaded the Midwest? He declared it Republic of Midwest and the intention was to declare the West as Oduduwa Republic with Banjo as President

Ojukwu wanted everyone to be free of Northern domination.

Unfortunately, some people were far more interested in being eternal slaves of the Hausa/Fulani oligarchy, such as Awolowo

Such is life
