And the big question is, is this proper?

And what were they doing there?

Did they even attend the boy’s burial?

Why attend his memorial?
No fewer than four governors yesterday attended the memorial service organised by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, for her son, Parker Shepnaan Dongban who passed on last year.

Some of the governors who attended the event held at Demshin in Plateau State still have cases at the election petitions courts where the Appeal Court President would have a major role to play.

However, there was no evidence that the Appeal Court president invited the governors to the event.

According to analysts, the governors might have attended the event in a typical Nigerian gesture, and perhaps, to curry favour.

Speaking at the service held at St. Peters Clever Church, Demshin in Plateau State, the Governor of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who said he was speaking on behalf of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), sympathised with Justice Dongban-Mensem, saying the governors identified with the family at the memorial service.

He said though the loss was painful, the governors recognised the impact made to humanity by the late Parker Shepnaan Dongban within the short period of his sojourn on earth, adding that his goodwill would be greatly missed.

He said: “Even though we remember our son today, we acknowledge that he lived an impactful life.”

Also speaking, the Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, who sympathised with the bereaved family, prayed to God to continue to comfort them.

He noted that no one can feel what the family has gone through since the untimely demise of the Parker.

He said: “There isn’t much to say on an occasion like this other than to say, may the good Lord continue to comfort you and the family because there is nothing we can do and the only thing is to pray for you.

“Even though one year has passed and we know you have enjoyed the comfort of the Lord, may you continue to enjoy the comfort of the Lord all the way. We will continue to pray that God will teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Also at the memorial service were Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia; his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun; former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, and former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

In his message, the Bishop of Shendam Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Philip Dung admonished the congregation and also prayed for the repose of the soul of Parker.

He asked God to continue to comfort the family.

He appealed to the Nigerian leaders not to abandon the people, particularly those in rural communities who voted them into power but to come up with programmes and actions that would cushion the effects of the present hardships being experienced in the country.

Bishop Dung drew the attention of governments at various levels to the lack of social amenities such as drinking water, roads, schools, and hospitals in most communities and called for urgent steps to be taken to give the people a sense of hope and belonging.

He applauded the President of the Court of Appeal for her investments in education which, he said, has enabled the less-privileged children to have access to schooling.

As part of the event, a Multipurpose Hall built at Ngoottuguut in memory of Parker was commissioned by the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh alongside Mutfwang, and other dignitaries.

They have nothing to do, than attend 'memorial' of a son of a politician's justice hack. An opportunity for strategizing on the next deal without phone tapping.

Wike and 4 governors attending a memorial mass, that is usually small and a family affair of the deceased......the Appeal Court President should be mindful of their true intentions.

First and foremost, being a Judge means you have old school classmates and professional colleagues, secondly, this is bereavement. My own fate commands us to mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice. Finally, after govt work retirement, you will need to go back fully into your friends and extended circles. Nobody will accept you if you abandoned them throughout your service life.

Are there genuine reasons to suspect this association? Yes. So the ICPC and EFCC must keep an eye on the Judge. If nothing untoward is found, then she is without blemish and not abused her office or predicament during this her mourning period.

Only in Nigeria.

Why would one believe a joke where the judiciary has basically gone to the dogs and regard/believe it for a country in the true meaning of that word?

The majority still don't understand or see the fact that Nigeria isn't a country and is at best, long dead, and the burial arrangements are what is currently being done.

Bring Jesus oh, Muhammed oh, they'd all hands off governing the country as it is presently setup so as not to defile their names and images. If in doubt, get referred to individuals who had flourishing careers and thought they could make a change in the polity via their service e.g. the Ngozis, Kachikwus, the Minister of Investment, or something under GEJs administration whose name I can't recall (Olusegun or so) and so many others like them. These guys regretted I am sure and still reeling from getting involved in the mess called Nigerian politics.

To get an idea of how decrepit the country has sunk, just put yourself in the shoes of one to Preside over it. Now, ask yourself, "Where do I start from in correcting the ills without appearing to be marginalizing a part of the whole? How do I confront the national saboteurs, the majority of whom are domiciled within the corridors of power, masquerading as politicians and civil servants? How about those resident within the various armed forces? Then throw into the mix "the massive religious, ethnic, and tribal divide and lack of trust/respect for one another" among the citizens.

The ishhh is massive and troubling.

Tinubu go soon gladly handover having realized the enormity of the wahala called Nigeria.

For those shouting and believing Peter Obi can cause any magic to happen " Make una just dey play". Country wey retired Generals wey get some dictatorial tendencies inherent in them no fit see light because of resident demonic saboteurs na him una dey believe say one Peter, particularly from a minority zone go come successfully change.

You guys need to get realistic and face the hard truth. It always ever helps to be realistic and less expectant. That way, you don't get your frail hearts shattered to bits.

Nigeria as it is presently "contrapted" and designed is impossible to govern to prosperity under the roguish and foul nonsense regarded as a "constitution and system of government".

This isn't pessimism, hate for country, or any one person/candidate, it is the truth and reality.

But with all due respect, it's inappropriate for CA judge to be fraternizing with dubious politicians

It is heartening to see Governor Nyesom Wike and three other governors attending the memorial service for the son of the President of the Court of Appeal. This gesture showcases their solidarity and empathy towards their fellow leaders during tough times. It is encouraging to witness such unity amongst political figures, emphasizing the importance of compassion and support within the political arena. This event serves as a reminder that even amidst political differences, it is possible to come together in moments of grief and sorrow.
