From Mokwugwo Solomon, Awka

Stakeholders of Umueri community in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State have extolled the community development strides of the President-General Amb. Chief John Chukwudi Metchie, whom they said fostered true peace and peaceful co-existence in the area.

The stakeholders under the auspices of Umueri Elders Council, Umueri Liberation Forum and some other bodies in the community jointly endorsed the efforts of the President-General, saying that he is indeed a blessing to humanity having extended his philanthropy to Umueri community through the provision of social amenities.

The stakeholders agreed without equivocation that Amb. Johnny Metchie as the President-General is fondly called, has revolutionalised community leadership in the way and manner he is piloting the affairs of the community through Umueri General Assembly (U.G.A).

They said considering the PG's human capital development, empowerments and benevolent gestures to Umueri community, the PG deserves praises and not curses to enable him to do more for his people and humanity in general while commending his support and loyalty to the government of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the PG never hesitated to take cognisance of state government presence in the community.

Speaking on the transformational leadership of Johnny Metchie in Umueri community, a prominent indigene in the area, Chief Okolo Ibeegbunam said Johnny Metchie is the only President-General that brought true peace in Umueri and also engendered peaceful co-existence between Umueri, Aguleri, Umuoba-Anam and other neighbouring communities.

Chief Okolo also noted that it was unprecedented in the history of Umueri General Assembly that a President-General bought security and surveillance vehicles for not only Umueri community vigilante service but also for neighbouring villages to ensure harmonious working relationship between security operatives in the area.

He said the President-General also equipped health facilities, constructed ultramodern market with 600 units of lockup shops, provided solar powered street lights, installed industrial boreholes, built modern toilet facilities, procured fire fighting equipment as well as access roads with drainages amongst other outstanding achievements of the Amb. Johnny Metchie led town union.

He pointed out also that over 150 households in Umueri community including IDP camps enjoy solar powered electricity supply and has provided scholarships, skill acquisition trainings and donation of equipment to hundreds of women and youths of Umueri community.

Chief Okolo who recalled how the President-General ensured that those who were affected by the 2022 flood devastations were properly taken care of and catered for, said it is only God who can reward Amb. Johnny Metchie for his good deeds to Umueri community and humanity in general.
