The level of corruption and bad governance from this our thieving politicians and their cronies is enough to have prompted the military to take over but The reason why a military coup cannot or will not happen in Nigeria is because the military guys are beneficiaries of the rotten civilian democracy which reeks of corruption at all levels. Military equipment contracts, mining activities under the cover of banditry, weapons racketeering and all. They have been settled with their own department of free for all while the civilian is busy with theirs. Nepotism and corruption at all levels is the order of the day

The military guys benefit but not that BENEFICIARIES because if they eat too much, they'll be hunted or vomit it when another president takes over. About 3 Nigerian chief of army staff and another chief of air staff have been killed in th last 15 years while a few of them are facing various corruption charges in court today. The main reason there cant be a coup again in Nigeria is because the Military establishment in Nigeria has become bigger than that of the 1980s and theres no way one person can take the entire Air force, Navy and Army under control and not get busted. There is also various political alignment within the Military as many of the GENERALS we have now are politically influenced. You can see how the current president has retired his predecessor's boys and put his own people there. Theres that alignment even down to the newly recruited personnels. Forget about coup in Nigeria.

If you observe well...you will notice that the countries that military have taken over in Africa are more in west Africa..

..and they are countries ravaged by the jihadist...

Chad, Mali, Guinea and now Niger.

Some things are not right.

To have a coup is better than to live like a slave in a supposed land of your birth under a supposed civil regime. If democracy is what makes politicians loot and act as if they are aliens who don't understand the urgency of now on need to wake up and stop the impending implosion, then congratulations to Niger Republic. If your men in Agbada and caps have failed to govern well, men in military uniform are permitted to shoot them out of power. Power is always grabbed or taken at all times.
