Global Ambassador of Youth Democracy Cohort, Yusuff Stands Firm Against Coup in Republic of Niger, Commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Timely Intervention

As the Global Ambassador of Youth Democracy Cohort of European Partnership For Democracy and Founder of the YouthElect initiative, I stand united with the people of Niger in condemning the recent coup attempt that threatens to undermine democratic governance in Africa.

The Youth Democracy Cohort is unwavering in its commitment to upholding democratic principles not only in Africa but across the globe.

The attempted coup in the Republic of Niger is a direct assault on the fundamental rights and aspirations of the Nigerien people. It is essential that we rally together to protect and preserve the democratic institutions that ensure fair representation, freedom of expression, and respect for the rule of law.

I would like to commend the timely intervention of Nigerian President and Chairman of ECOWAS Authority Head of Government, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in addressing this crisis. His resolute stance against the coup and unwavering support for democracy in the region are commendable. Such decisive leadership sets an example for other nations and reaffirms the importance of regional cooperation in safeguarding democratic values.

In the face of this challenge, it is crucial for the international community to lend their support to the people of Niger in their pursuit of democracy and stability.
