In recent years, however, ECOWAS has been unable to restore constitutional order following the coups in Mali in 2020 and 2021, Guinea (2021) and Burkina Faso (2022). A major reason for this is that most presidents of ECOWAS nations have defaulted on the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance through electoral malpractice and tenure elongation.

In the words of the CDS, Maj. Gen. Musa, "darkness cannot be driven away by darkness."

Illegality will only breed chaos. Nigeria needs to remove the log in their own eye first, before correcting the speck in another’s. cool

Are you in tune with reality? The spices and ingredients for war is complete, once the last hope for the masses (the judiciary) fails its time for either a military incursion or war , that man's opinion is right and on point

Nothing new, from one looter to the other, from one slave master (France, Britain & USA) to another (Russia & China). Burkina Faso, Guinea & Mali has gone worse since they had a coup, and now Niger. Nothing is going to change undecided . The only thing that can change Africa is when we all take responsibility. E.g. The FG paid states double allocations state govt & LG refuse to increase salaries and the masses never held their leaders accountable. Can any African countries live like North Korea. Russia and China are behind this and in no time these countries with Junta will bcm a dead lion themselves like North Korea grin

The series of coups we have witnessed in Africa over the past decade shows that democracy is not for Africa.

The black Africans don't have the mental capacity to manage power, hence the excessive abuse of it.

A tinubu for example is preaching against coup
Meanwhile he just appointed as minister, a fmr gov who was fingered in massive rigging of his state's presidential election.

I have been telling people that Nigerians aren't ready for a revolution. These so called politicians play the citizenry like ukulele, because they have tested and used just one single technique- Impoverish them then feed them crumbs!

Gradually, people are realizing that the statement "greener pastures" is more of an imagination than a likely event because the whole world is in shambles as no country can assure the "peace of mind" they yearn for. Here in Africa, particularly in Nigeria, people now see politics as a quick money scheme because the system tolerates all shades of wrongdoings coupled with financial misappropriation that goes without being questioned, sanctioned nor disciplined, since the legal guys have joined in this jiggery-pokery making it so enticing to even foreigners on our soil who go about bribing their way through constant illegalities..........hope some countries get inspired by these guys because the political class in Africa is nothing but BUNCH OF SADISTS CUM OPPORTUNISTS!

And you think the military class is better, show me one west african country that really faired well under military rule. Under military, you wont even be able to talk about the pain you are going through, your internet may even be blocked

ECOWAS cannot do anything. Nothing go happen for Niger because their people are ok with it
thats what they Think in thé beginning, thé military is not known to rule with fairness or inclusion of thé common man. If people elected into power can missuse said power imagine Where there is not checkmating entity to that power. Nigeria pass 8 years was more like an authoritarian govt than Democratic because of Buhari's military background. They don't carry people along, they are not open to be criticized, I doubt if they will allow the court to prove you guilty before you are executed. So they may think it will favour them in the beginning, it's however left to see what plays out.

Only factory-fitted morons will believe that the worst democracy is better than the best military rule. Who came up with the slogan? The looters! Africans couldn't care less about the system of government as long as their basic needs are met. Democracy has failed West Africa because when garnished with our penchant to abuse noble causes, selection became election.

So far, Babangida and Abacha regimes were better than all the tenures we have had since 1999.

It's a fact that most of us don't want to agree to. Guess what, reality is a respecter of nobody. For instance, in this country, the vast majority of the citizens think of accumulating wealth for themselves and unborn generations. That's why they loot everything when people are voted into power.

Elsewhere in the world, people are heavily taxed with taxpayers' money given to those who don't have jobs yet and for taking care of the aged and children.

Here, the black man is so selfish that he wants to empty the treasury and keep his own people poor. Tell me how that Black man has a trait of leadership in him. Believe it or not, leadership is not for Black Africans.

Totally agree.
Some clowns would dispute your arguments.
But I often ask them to show me one black ruled nation that is 1st world or 2nd World.

The coup in Niger Republic is what happens when you have a dictatorship masquerading as a democracy like what you have in Nigeria where the government is NOT answerable to its people and the president decides which part of the Constitution he obeys. I am surprised that the military in Nigeria has NOT yet decided to go in the direction of their counterpart in Niger. This is because the military does NOT see a difference between them and the so-called democratic government. So, I hope this sounds like a cautionary NOTE to all the dictators in Africa who run oppressive governments that make no distinction between true democracy and the military regime.
