Former Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress Dumebi Kachikwu has criticized President Tinubu's economic policies, saying that they are "tokenist" and will do little to help Nigerians.

In a statement released today, Kachikwu said that President Tinubu's speech on the economy "once again highlighted the absence of a solid team behind the Presidency." He also criticized the President for not mentioning what his administration would do to ensure that those who have abused the subsidy scheme are brought to justice.

Kachikwu said that President Tinubu made the same mistake of his predecessors in formulating policies and plans that assume ceteris paribus is in play. He said that "deep rooted multi-dimensional corruption is an unquantifiable variable that distorts and disrupts every economic plan and policy."

Kachikwu also criticized the President's palliatives, saying that they are "tokenist in nature and will do little or nothing to ameliorate the plight of Nigerians." He said that the N1 billion that the President has prescribed for industries is "just $1.1 million" and that the Nigerian Custom Service alone takes about N10 million per 40ft container.

Kachikwu also criticized the President's plan to procure 3000 CNG powered buses, saying that Nigeria has only sixteen installed CNG skids and most of them are in the southern part of Nigeria.

Kachikwu concluded by saying that "President Tinubu means well but there still remains a big difference between meaning well and doing well. It is hard to do well with the assemblage of a mediocre team."

Right from the first day we heard rumors that he will want to contest, we knew he will be a disaster.

Nigeria is the only country where people who don't have industries, haven't worked at the decision and top management level for any major industry make polices for industries

Instead of industries to recommend policy formulation

Africans elect people who have built nothing in life and wonder why they build nothing in government

Exactly! No matter how good the economic policies are, what's important is to be in tune with reality! Nigerians don't have the wherewithal to persevere in hope for a better future! Too much hunger and anger in the land. In other words, as you are working towards a rock solid future for the people, you must also ensure that they can be alive to enjoy that future
