There is no J in Greek. Greek has no symbol that represents J nor does it have a sound that is equivalent to our J sound. The letter J was added on to the Latin alphabet in the Middle Ages to distinguish it from the consonant I.

It has been suggested that the tree Esus is cutting is the Tree of Life and the cranes represent the flight of the soul - either human or, perhaps, the tree's.
In this way, Esus brings about death and destruction in winter to make way for rebirth in spring.

Lucan's Bel-lum civile from 61-65 AD:
"And those who pacify with blood accursed Savage Teutates, Hesus' horridshrines, And Taranis' altars cruel as were those loved by Di-ana, goddess of the north"
on Lucan, human victims were sacrificed to Esus by being tied to a tree and flailed.

ESUS the Carpenter God

ESUS – A TRINITY GOD

The Roman poet Lucan described ‘Esus” in a poem, the Pharsalia, dating from the 1st c. AD, the last great battle in the civil war between Pompey and Caesar.
In it, he alludes to the journey of Caesar’s troops through southern Gaul and their encounter with
three Gaulish gods: Taranis, Teutates and ‘Esus’
(Pharsalia I, 444-6).
Lucan describes this triad (trinity) as cruel, savage and demanding of human sacrifice: ‘horrid ‘Esus’ with his wild altars’.

Esus was part of a trinity, along with two other gods: Taranis (“Thunderer”), Teutates (“God of the People”), and Esus, meaning 'Master' or 'Lord.'
