LIONEL MESSI ESCAPES RED CARD AS RIVAL COACH LEFT SEETHING AT "CIRCUS"

Orlando City manager Oscar Pareja expressed his frustration after Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to a victory in the Leagues Cup. The match took place on Wednesday night at the DRV PNK Stadium, where Messi and his teammates faced off against their rivals from Florida in the Leagues Cup Round of 32. Miami emerged triumphant with a 3-1 win, courtesy of a brace from Messi and a penalty converted by Josef Martinez.

Messi wasted no time in opening the scoring, finding the back of the net in the seventh minute. Orlando managed to equalize through Cesar Araujo ten minutes later. However, Miami swiftly regained the lead after the halftime break when Martinez successfully converted a penalty. In the 72nd minute, Messi secured the victory for his club by scoring his fifth goal in just three appearances.

With this win, Gerardo Martino‘s team, Inter Miami, moves on to the Round of 16 in the Leagues Cup. Their next opponents will be FC Dallas, a formidable challenge for Messi and the rest of the Miami roster, including Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Orlando camp is considerably different. Manager Oscar Pareja expressed his discontent with several refereeing decisions during the match.

In particular, he was displeased with the absence of a second caution for Messi after a shoulder barge on Araujo, a challenge that seemingly warranted a yellow card.

According to a report by Mirror.co.uk, Pareja stated in the post-match press conference, “Tonight was a circus. There was a second yellow on Messi [that wasn’t given]. I don’t care if he’s Messi.”

Pareja also questioned the validity of Miami’s penalty, which ultimately resulted in their second goal and the subsequent lead. He specifically criticized the use of VAR in the incident, particularly the referee’s decision not to consult the pitchside monitor.

“The PK calls and others, they were ridiculous,” Pareja remarked. “We were very frustrated and tried to regain our composure. There were some circumstances in this game that shouldn’t happen.”

Furthermore, Pareja described the chaotic nature of the game, stating, “The attention that we get with all that is happening becomes a circus. (This match) was a circus.”

In summary, Lionel Messi’s impressive performance helped Inter Miami secure a 3-1 victory over Orlando City in the Leagues Cup Round of 32. While Miami celebrates their progress to the next round, Orlando’s manager Oscar Pareja expressed his frustration with the refereeing decisions, particularly the omission of a second caution for Messi and the questionable penalty awarded to Miami. The result has left Pareja disappointed, deeming the match a “circus.”

Key Takeaway:

– Lionel Messi played an instrumental role in Inter Miami’s win against Orlando City, scoring two goals and assisting Josef Martinez’s penalty goal.

– The victory propelled Inter Miami to the Round of 16 in the Leagues Cup, where they will face FC Dallas.

– Orlando City manager Oscar Pareja criticized the refereeing decisions, particularly the absence of a second yellow card for Messi and the referee’s failure to consult the pitchside monitor during the penalty incident.

– Pareja expressed his frustration with the circumstances surrounding the game, stating that it had turned into a “circus.”

– The use of VAR and the need for more transparency in refereeing decisions were highlighted as key concerns by Pareja.
