US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday voiced support for efforts of the West African bloc ECOWAS on Niger without explicitly backing its call at a summit for military intervention.

“ECOWAS, an organization that brings together West African countries, is playing a key role in making clear the imperative of a return to constitutional order, and we very much support ECOWAS’ leadership and work on this,” he said.

At a summit in Abuja, the West African bloc supported a standby military force for Niger.

The United States has in recent days cautioned that military force should be only a last resort and that diplomacy was the best way to resolve the crisis.

Blinken also renewed alarm about the health of detained elected president Mohamed Bazoum, whom he has spoken to around half a dozen times by telephone since the military takeover of July 26.

“We have deep concern for him, for his family, for his security and well-being,” Blinken said.

“We’ve also made clear to the military leaders that we will hold them responsible for his safety and well-being.”

Niger’s Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou recently said that Bazoum was being held with his wife and son without electricity or water.

France reiterates its strong condemnation of the coup attempt under way in Niger and of the detention of President Bazoum and his family.

At an Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) attended by Nigerien Foreign Minister Hassoumi Massoudou, the presidents of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo reiterated their determination to ensure the restoration of constitutional and democratic order in Niger and the release of President Bazoum and his family.

France reaffirms its full support for all of the conclusions adopted at this Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government held on August 10, 2023.

ECOWAS led by President Tinubu will NOT invade Niger. Tinubu, as a politician, can NEVER ignore the clearly-communicated opposition of the Northern political and religious leaders to military action against their kits and kins in Niger.

I believe what is currently playing out is a hybrid of brinkmanship and psychological warfare. It serves the dual purpose of putting pressure on Junta in Niger and making US and France happy.

I have no respect for France. I have no reason to respect a Sovereign Thief who steals Uranium and Gold from Niger.

The United States should move their military base out of Niger, so should France.

Europe's attempt to salvage themselves from cold using Nigerian Gas with pipeline routed through Niger and Algeria to Europe will be super priced and would not be cheap.

By bombing Russian Nord Stream gas pipeline to Europe, the only hope of Europe is now the Niger Delta Gas, of which I am am directly, as a Niger Deltan, the provider of Salvation.

I am glad to extend my help to Nigeria and Europe with my Gas, but USA, Russia and France should get the fucck away from West Africa.

President Tinubu has a job, and a tasking one, and it is to make the West to beg for gas, what ever we do, we must get France out of West Africa.

These are the imperialists that the urine dispenser in Aso Rock is working so hard to impress because they have his criminal case file.

If he does not comply to their bidding, they will open his nyash to the world.

It’s the reason Tinubu is still pushing for war in Niger after Nigerians have collectively said they don’t want war.

Northerners have collectively said they don’t want war; from their highest ranking stakeholders to the Talakawas in the streets.

The Nigerian Senate has turned down the request for war.

Even FFK of all human beings is opposed to war.

Greater generality of Nigerians online and offline have said no to war.

Why is Tinubu insisting on going to war? Why?

Is this supposed to be a trick comment?

So because we Niger Deltans presumably may not possess the technological wherewithal to currently push for swift growth, we ought to turn our behinds and let foreign interests rape and plunder our natural resources, just to fit into whatever twisted logic you're waltzing around with?

If that is indeed the case, then one must commend Tinubu on a political masterstroke if war is averted after all this hoopla.

Never back a woman who has been fvcked and mounted by many men or else, you will train another man's child thinking it's your own because she will definitely fvck her ex the moment he shows up to her on Facebook or in the market.

Women never forget the person who opened their pvssies and that person will always have his way into her body anytime, any day.

It's very funny how you see that it's mostly citizens of poor African nations and other third world countries that tend to support the coup or condemn USA nd France. Similar anti-west sentiments have been exhibited when Russia decided to invade Ukraine. Honestly for me, if not for fear of what may happen to the Nigerien president, I support ECOWAS even if na Military action.

How can a continent so blessed as ours be so backward? It's cycles of poor leadership. These interruptions of the people's will doesn't allow for progress, it's retrogressive and the quicker we appreciate that, the better for us all. Imagine where we would be if Obj had succeeded in his third term bid - maybe he would be the president and we will be wired to think it's ok to manipulate the constitution and stay in power. That's what's happening when u see people out on the street supporting the coup in their country. They have been wired to think that interruptions are ok.

Truth is, no matter what, democracy will always remain the best style of governance. That's what the most progressive nations in the world practice and the earlier other Africans realize this, the better. Imagine Still having Buhari as President just cos he could force himself to remain.

This war is going to be a Nigeria war, they are hyping Tinubu to war. I see the northern oligarchy fighting Tinubu’s government soon.

Soon it will be a fight between Osama bin Laden and Pablo Escobar

Tinubu should not send Nigérian soldiers to Niger.

If the US and France are interested in installing democracy in Niger, they should prosecute the war themselves.

Alternatively, every ECOWAS member state that okayed that resolution should send their soldiers to form part of ECOMOG coalition.
