Int'l Youth Day: Un-habitat Amb. Dr. Raymond Edoh Task Youth On Skills by Daudupress: 11:48pm On Aug 12, 2023
...says youth are the live wire of every economy

The United Nations Habitat Ambassador to Nigeria, and Life member,
International Chartered World Learned Society, USA, has called on the youth globally to be skill minded and as well as been hardworking pointing out that no economy strives without the youth.

Dr. Raymond Edoh made the charge in a statement he signed today 12th August 2023 to commemorate international youth Day which was made available to journalists by his Executive Media Assistant, Mr. Emmanuel Daudu in Abuja-Nigeria.

According to the statement, Edoh stated and reaffirmed that the government can not provide all the jobs needed by the youths stressing that even if the government was able and did provide, the economy will suffer setbacks because civil service doesn't to a large extent make the production of goods and services a priority. The government only makes the environment conducive for such to be initiated and strives within the atmosphere of good economic policies, programs, security, electricity, infrastructure, and a sound transportation system.

The Statement also tasked the federal government of Nigeria to make the environment conducive for youths in the country to engage in profitable and legal businesses and provide achievable windows for skills acquisition noting that until the government motivates the youths and they feel they belong they can't make the country proud and as well metamorphose to economic growth.

The statement which reads in parts, "International Youth Day is an annual event that occurs on August 12th. The occasion is intended to raise awareness and drive action on a range of issues affecting youth globally. One of which is unemployment. We understand that we especially in Africa have this issue of unemployment, we have through activism engaged the government at various levels on this issue of unemployment and it's not working based on sundry factors what I have resolved to do is to tell our co-youths the truth by moving toward skills acquisition. That's the way out.

"Youths should consider solving problems through skills as the way out to better their lives and grow the economy. Though the government must come in by providing a conducive environment and creating rooms where some skills can be acquired freely through government scholarships and several degrees of empowerment.

"Regards the Nigerian government, we call on the federal government to include the youths on their list of priorities by making policies and programs that would empower the youths available and easily accessible to them.

"It's no doubt that this government is for the youths and assuredly we are optimistic that our interest is captured.

"Recently, the SGF, Sen. George Akume assured us of the Tinubu-led government to be a youth-friendly government and we have started seeing that evidently and we want to thank the President, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his kind gestures towards the youths and I plead him to keep the good work going", Edoh added.
