Subsidy is an addiction. And like addictions everywhere - it has become unsustainable. It was eating up a huge part of our income. It was making us broke. It was manageable when Nigeria was earning lots of money. The days of earning lots of money are gone. And like addiction, it made people unwilling to do business with us or lend us money. After all, we would just blow it on our subsidy. What we are experiencing now is what happens when you go cold turkey. We have tried the gradual approach, but that has not worked. So now we are here. And things will get worse before they get better.

Nigerians would eternally remain gullible. When una go get sense? After the Buhari fiasco you guys are still expecting anything meaningful from APC? Even PDP though a million times better than these devils in APC never followed any stupid manifesto. Those things are meant to deceive Nigerians. |

People deserve the kind of leaders they get. Bad people can't produce good leaders and good people can't produce bad leaders. Doing the same things over and expecting different results is INSANITY. |

placeofallure:First, it's parameters not perimeters. Secondly. I will not say much about the government till after 12months in office. If he survives the PEPT. Then, it will be glaring for all to see the direction the government is heading to. If you are taking me to Abuja from Lagos, then I'll know if we have reached Ijebu ode which is along the route or maybe heading to Cotonou which is off route. |

Policy without scientific or empirical basis will fail. Let's hope he is learning on the job. All those policies he formulated in his house in ikoyi clearly does not work. For the first time in the history of Nigeria civil servants can't afford transport to work 5 times a week. |

comodo: Thanks for the correction. That was a typo. Secondly, anybody cannot conclude on Tinubu's government for now. It's too hasty to judge. Except if he's a magician is when we would've made gigantic strides now. Patience, patience. 1 Like |

placeofallure: There is no way removing the subsidy which has been a problem every leader has been kicking down the road, would not lead to upheaval in the short run. It is also clear that there was something with Nigeria's finances that the previous admin was hiding or did not have a lid on. The whole nairapocalypse leading up to the elections was literally looking like Nigerians making a run on the banks. However we have a new breed of 'politically involved' persons who only have a surface understanding and are swayed by social media takes. So here we are. |

Well it has been barely 3 months since he became the president, I think it is too early to judge him. The earliest time period to start doing this should be from 6months into his government. Two things have been a big issue so far which is high fuel hike prices as well as hike in exchange rate but let's see if there is any solution on their part to control the situation. It is too early to judge. That is my verdict but it is good to criticize constructively when due. Nigerians have a right to complain though if need be. |
