Nimasa is one useless sector in Nigeria, I will say it over and over again...... They don't care about Seafarers but extort from them... certificate up on certificate here and there Do you know NIMASA is fully aware of that rig from onset ? How do u say a vessel of that capacity is off your shore and no license, no registration, no cabotage? Being a seaman is now a political something now.....God help us as seafarers in naija |

You think they don't know what to do? If they try it, heads would've rolled and someone would've been transferred to Zamfara State because of wanting to do the right thing! That's Nigeria for you. kokoA: |

Who collected the bribe and closed their eyes? Its same NIMASA but of course they wont admit it. That huge rig cannot be hidden to the authorities, so something happened under the table. |

NIMASA, DPR, NAPIMS and many other government agencies should be ashamed of themselves. How can NIMASA say a rig which came into Nigeria brand new in 2012 - the finest Swamp Rig in Nigeria for a long time, has been operating illegally for 7 years!!! This is ineptitude at its peak. Rigs always get audited yearly and are supposed to provide requisite approvals as part of requirements. The Rig in question suffered a fire incident in 2017 and was repaired before being returned to operation and no one noticed in the course of recertification, prior to being placed back in operation, that it had no NIMASA approval. This Rig has been moved severally since 2016!!! Nigeria is simply a joke!!! Anyways, we await the investigation report. |

When did NIMASA first get the wind about the illegal operations: last week, yesterday or just today? Who are the other agencies of government that should know but were unaware? Islie: |

The useless NIAMASA should be ashamed to make this statement. Oil rig is not a hidden thing. SEPLAT is also not a small name. They have been eating from the illegal proceeds perhaps not remitting to govt for a long time. Now they are coming out to say that the rig is operating illegally. A lot of illegalities go on in the Nigerian Oil industry. If you make a good quest into this rig operations, you'll be surprised that a lot of the big guys in NIMASA, DPR, NNPC etc are using it to cash out. Useless people |
