Governor Adeleke Charges Over 2700 Corps Members Sworn-in In Osun State To Stay by Authentic79xp(f): 4:34pm On Aug 18, 2023
His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has charged the over 2700 Corps Members sworn-in in Osun State comprising 1808 Corps Members deployed to the State and 900 dislodged from Lagos State, to stay true to the National Pledge and the NYSC Oath of Allegiance which they had sworn to before the Chief Judge of the State.

Adeleke gave the charge at the Swearing-in and Official Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Friday. His Excellency, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Moshood Olagunju, acknowledged and commended the bold and notable strides the NYSC had made in contributing to the socio-economic development of the State and the Country in the areas of education, rural health, infrastructure and agriculture.

He also commended the State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim and his team for their commitment to the training of mobilised graduate youths for a more productive and efficient service to the nation.

Senator Adeleke also charged the Corps Members to be law abiding and to always ensure they channel their grievances in a civilised and constitutionally acceptable way.

"Remember that the younger generation looks up to you as her role model. Therefore, shun any action capable of misinforming and misleading the young ones.

" Let me advise you to make wise use of the digital space and technology. Do not use your social media handles to peddle fake news and rumours: rather use your handles to add value to yourself and to others. Remember, you are now an ambassador of the NYSC and the State of your deployment", he added.

Speaking on the need to embrace skills acquisition, Governor Adeleke urged the Members to be creative and innovative.

"Be creative and innovative as graduates. Do not only think of consuming but rather begin to think of what you can produce or offer as a solution to human needs and problems.

" Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and toll the path of diligence, hardwork and industry: which is the key to lasting success and prosperity", he said.

Conclusively, he assured them of his government's continued support and committment to their welfare and safety as they serve the nation in Osun State.

Speaking earlier, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim, the State Coordinator, informed the Corps Members that the Orientation Course is the first of the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC which they were expected to pass through in order to qualify for the certificate of national service.

He highlighted some of the objectives and course content of the three weeks regimented Orientation, while emphasising on the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in-camp training slated to commence soon. He urged them to leverage on the programme to become self-reliant wealth and employment creators rather than job seekers in an over populated labour market.

Agbor also charged the Members to take their health seriously and desist from self medication.

"Do not hide your health status as we stand in loco-parentis to you. Do not self medicate, we have qualified doctors and nurses on ground to attend to your health needs, therefore, I implore you to abstain from self medication and seek proper consultation when sick".

Conclusively, he appreciated His Excellency for the ongoing renovation of Camp facilities and for his fatherly disposition towards Corps Members serving in the State.

The National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance were administered on the Corps Members by the representative of the Chief Judge of Osun State, Hon. Justice Babafemi Abimbola Akande.

Meanwhile, the Man'O'War and the NYSC Cultural troupe thrilled the audience to a thug of war and cultural dance display respectively. The event also had in attendance the NYSC Southwest Area Director, Mr Amusan Oluwole Julius and other dignitaries.
