What business can be done with five million naira (5,000,000) that will start yielding return immediately after set-up. By this I mean one does not have to wait for some period before expecting return, e.g pig farming you have to keep spending for like 9months to a year before expecting any return

Which business is already making that per month and why would the owner want to sell?

Oil dey your head.

It even gets better if you look in the direction where the high and mighty money-bags are not looking.

If you are outside Lagos but within the West and you have just 1 Million you could become an exclusive distributor in your town/City with an ROI of nothing less than 5 per cent weekly. But it will be very hard work initially. look well, be circumspect and tread carefully.

I have someone who needs just half of it as a loan and she will pay back double in 1 year and 6 months.

She has a big business idea she really need capital for.

If you were in the Eastern part of Nigeria, or have any trusted ally here, I would have advised you to go into storage of seasonal food stuffs, as food is very essential and regardless of the bad shape of Nigeria's economy, food is quite indispensable and must be bought. This is what I do and I am in Enugu state Nigeria. With that said you can make triple of that amount with less stress, supervision and risk depending on the amount of capital you are willing to trade with. You don't even have to worry about transportation or availability of buyers as buyers would always beg you to sell at these peak seasons.
These are few commodities which can be stored and sold at their peak season: Palm Oil, egusi, dried melon, Kolanut, bitter kola, cashew nuts, tomatoes (though I wouldn't advise a starter to venture into this due to its delicate and perishable nature) etc.
For instance, right now egusi are being stored and they are bagged in two sizes, the farmer's bag and small bag which are currently sold for #110,000 and #70,000 naira respectively. They are sold at peak season which should be in 3-5 months time between #150,000- #170,000 for the farmer's bag (taking a cue from this previous peak season).

Lets get practical-
1. If I am to buy 20 bags of farmers bag at #110,000 = #2.2M

2. I store in a warehouse right inside the market at #200 per bag for a month (some warehouses store for #100). Lets say I will store for 5 months (200 x 20 x 5) = #20,000

3. Lets say in 5 months time which is expected to be a peak season, I decide to sell at #160,000 with the help of a middle man in the market whose job is to inform me of the variables and disparities of prices at each point in time (160000 x 20) = #3.2M.
Buyers will have to head to the warehouse to transport the goods themselves after I must have informed the warehouse manager to release the goods to the buyers after payments must have been made.

Breakdown of cost:
Capital: #2.2M
Warehousing: #20,000
Logistics/phone calls/tips for warehouse manager and middle man: #50,000
(3.2M - 2.2M - 20k- 50k) = a total profit of #930,000.

4. I divert to another food stuff which can be easily sourced at this time and that will likey be the palm oil.

Great business idea.

But sir, do you store your egusi in Enugu after buying and transporting from Nasarawa or Niger state as the case may be
