Yesterday, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs Hon. Nyanabo Maxwell Soye visited the [b]Rivers State University[/b]on receiving a distress call on a robbery incident that occurred on campus in hostel D, recognizing the urgency of the situation, he swiftly undertook an on the spot assessment to better understand the circumstances and work towards preventing such incidents in the future.

In his assessment, he held productive discussions with the school management, headed by Prof. Valentine Omubo Pepple, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, and the Chief Security Officer, as well as representatives from the Student Union Government, victims of the attack, and concerned students. Together, we identified and proposed effective solutions to address the issue he added.

He reassured everyone that Governor Siminalayi Joseph Fubara's administration is fully committed to taking all necessary and legal steps to bring the culprits to justice. Our thoughts are with the victims of the robbery attack, and we reinstate the Rivers State Government's unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property.

He said, Protecting lives and property is the essence of governance, and In the administration of Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, GSSRS, our Government is tirelessly working to maintain and strengthen the progress made in the fight against crime. As part of these efforts, he urge security agencies to bolster their presence around the campus, particularly at hostels and other vulnerable areas, by increasing personnel and intensifying surveillance and patrols.

Additionally, he called upon the university management to consider installing solar lights and strategically positioned CCTV cameras across the campus, aligning with international best practices. These measures will undoubtedly contribute to the safety and security of all individuals, with a special focus on our students.

To the student community, he assured them that the Siminalayi Joseph Fubara administration is dedicated to your safety and well-being. We are steadfastly working to create an environment that fosters learning and success in every pursuit. He emphasized the importance of synergy and collaboration to combat insecurity effectively, as we collectively build comprehensive and inclusive policing strategies.

In conclusion, let us move forward united, determined to eliminate the challenges of insecurity and establish a robust security architecture that benefits all. Together, we can ensure a brighter and safer future for Rivers State University and its entire community.

The incident I heard on the molestation of the students wasn't funny at all, and it's so unfortunate how hoodlums can be able to gain access to a hostel and carryout their dastardly act without the notice of the security meanwhile those same security take fines from the female students based on their dress pattern
