Military coup in Nigeria will fail. No Yoruba officer will join and if he does he’s on his own. Nigeria is too big and filled with different nationalities to fall to a coup. Nigeria will not survive another coup or military administration. So those trying and dreaming about it, it will backfire.

They cannot for the following reasons:

(1) The lower cadre of soldiers in Nigeria are dumb. Thanks to the efforts of politicians and senior members of the armed forces to ensure that junior officers in the army lack the acumen and capacity to successfully execute a coup.

(2) Senior members of the Nigerian armed forces are enjoying the loot that politicians are enjoying. A coup will disrupt the flow of the loot. So as long as senior members of the armed forces who have the capacity to execute a coup are enjoying the loot as well as the politicians no coup can and will happen.

(3) Coups have never and will never be in the interest of the people. Coups happen when the military do not have their hands in the national cake. In Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso and now Gabon the coups happen because politicians decide to loot alone and not share the loot with members of the army.

(4) In the rare instance when true freedom fighters in the army decide to stand up to fight for the people, he will be assassinated by his very own brothers thus ending the coup.

If you knew how much military officers like Musa Yar'adua, Theophilus Danjuma, Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha, etc. and the MILADs of 36 states looted, you will know that there is no difference between politicians and soldiers when it comes to looting of the treasury.
