APPOINTMENT OF TWO GREAT LEADERS FROM RIVERS STATE - A THANK YOU NOTE TO MR PRESIDENT, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR
The appointment of two great political Leaders from Rivers State; His Excellency Chief Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Chief Tony Okocha,Rivers State Representative in NDDC board, directly by Mr President, has generated great excitement and jubilation to Rivers people.
To those who do not understand the reason for this great jubilation, it would appear as though, the jubilants are overbearing or unnecessarily exacerbating their celebration moods.However, truth is that, these category of jubilants are overwhelmed by the magnanimity of Mr President in bringing hope to them, by the reason of these appointments.
Those who followed the politics of APC, in the emergence of Asiwaju as presidential candidate, will understand that these jubilants are those who wear the "shoes" and actually feel the pains , arising from the betrayals and intrigues, that ensued, during and after the struggle for victory of APC in Rivers State.
They understand the pain arising from the utter neglect and betrayal by legacy Rivers State APC leaders, the abandonment of the party and its presidential candidate at the time it mattered most. These core loyalists of Mr President cannot easily forget the insults on the personality of the Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the campaign of calumny orchestrated by his haters in legacy APC and opposition parties, in attempt to rubbish his ambition.
What about the ridiculous vituperations and physical attacks on Asiwaju/Shettima faithfuls?
It is on record that many of us who are celebrating Asiwaju today, were not allowed to even walk or talk freely, without attacks by perceived enemies of the president during the elections.
It took only the intervention of Chief Tony Okocha and His Excellency Chief Bar Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for supporters of Mr President to have "fresh breath" , and for them to demonstrate their support and loyalty for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the presidential election.
Therefore when this group of loyalists recall their individual and collective ordeals, in the hands of those who hated Asiwaju, and the fact that, victory came at last, they are left with no other option than to express their joy to the fullest.
And this is why this " thank you" note has become necessary, as part of the jubilation,to reiterate my joy and total loyalty to Mr President, and also to congratulate the appointees once again.
I have to thank him for listening to our various calls on him to recognize both leaders for the roles they played in liberating us, and making us have a sense of belonging in the course of exercising our support for Mr President.
With these appointments,we are completely sure that the share of Rivers State and its Indigenes from the centre, is in safe hands. We are doubly sure that , with His Excellency Ezenwo Nyesom Wike's presence as Minister, and Tony Okocha's presence at the NDDC board as our representative, we the supporters, and indeed all Rivers Indigenes, are well protected and positioned to key into the renewed hope Agenda in Rivers state.
I say a big thank you for being a listening president. Our joy knows no bounds,because you have made us proud, and we believe that these appointments will usher in sanity and progress, to the emerging renewed Hope APC in Rivers State.
Thank you Mr President for recognizing hard work, sacrifice and tenacity displayed by our Leaders. We are grateful that you remembered our heroes of democracy for :
1) protecting the unity of this country, by insisting on equity ,justice and fairness,on the issue of power rotation from North to south.
2) standing resolutely to "weather"all the political storms that blew in Rivers State, which was calculated to throw the State out of the victory mix.
3) protecting and leading the abandoned core members of Renewed Hope APC and loyalists to Mr President in Rivers State, right from the campaigns,rallies and up to the election.
4)their strategic thinking in forming an acceptable agenda, that set the pace for the alliance between APC and PDP during the elections.
5)their ownership spirit in standing to coordinate all your supporters from legacy APC and PDP, ensuring your overwhelming victory in the elections.
6)breaking the jinx in delivering Rivers State for the first time in almost two decades of our political history
Above all, I thank you Mr President for making Rivers people proud, and I believe that with these appointments,the renewed hope has already begun in our dear state, and we have no doubt on the positive impact, your administration will have on Rivers people.
Now, Rivers people can proudly claim the truth in your audacious "EMILOKAN" slogan, that IT IS OUR TIME, and as we wait for more appointments,we won't fail to continue thanking you for being a listening father of the Nation.
