In partial fulfilment of her drive to reposition the status of women in Nigeria,the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye empowered over 50 women in Abuchi Community of Gurara Local Government,Niger state.

This measure according to her, is In line with the disposition  of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to ensure Economic Prosperity and development in Nigeria.

Speaking further, Barr Uju stated that the empowerment will serve as Soft loans to the over 50 women  which will enable them invest in small or medium scale business in order to curb the alarming rate of poverty and to boost economic prosperity

The Honourable Minister also promised to assist the women in the community to open Bank accounts for their co-operatives to ensure proper records and security for their finances.

The Governor of Niger state who was ably represented by his Deputy H.E Comrade Yahaya Garba Yakubu thanked the Minister for assisting the women in Niger barely a week in office and urged the women to invest the funds wisely to achieve set goals. He also pledged the support of the State Government  for  the Ministry of Women Affairs to ensure that women in the state are empowered to support their husbands and enhance their capacity to add value to national growth.

About 75,000 women are enrolled in the scheme under the Nigerian Women Project which supports each woman with about N60,000.00 to start businesses as part of measures to improve their wellbeing.

Can we be serious in this country 60,000 to start what business?

Can that 3 million cover her private jet flight for one single trip? Let's be serious

Niger is a beautiful state with huge resources and adequate land for them

Tell this women to form a cooperative, pick a business they want to engage in.. Vet this business make sure it's viable... Set up the business for them to be run by the cooperative... Tech them social media marketing and other marketing...

They produce and sale then share the profit

With 10 million u can set up a business that can do 50 million yearly since labour is free

So you can't tell me this minister don't have 20 million to set up this women for life?

Like Peter Obi said what we need is local industry in the villages that would take advantage of the local resources to produce either import substitute goods or export oriented goods that's the way to grow
