The honourable lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, politically known as Ibarapakan, has launched a scholarship offer for the best students in both the senior secondary school certificate examination (SSCE) and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The first phase of the initiative, which commences in September this year, will capture students in the constituency who sat for the 2023 SSCE and UTME.

According to a statement signed by his special Adviser on Media, Hassan Adesodi Olaoniye The lawmaker noted that, the scholarship is strictly for students seeking admission to study any course of their choice in the federal universities or federal polytechnics in Nigeria or any Oyo State-owned university or polytechnic.

The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, said three students in each of the two local government areas comprising Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency will benefit from the scholarship offer, stressing that the process will be transparently carried out.

Hon. Adepoju also maintained that the process would be based on merit, as the best students in the 2023 SSCE and UTME in each community would be considered for the scholarship in order to encourage academic competitiveness among the secondary school students in the federal constituency.

Announcing the scholarship on Friday, September 1, 2023, Hon. Adepoju said the scholarship offer will only cover the beneficiaries’ tuition fees throughout the lawmaker’s constitutional duration of 4 years per tenure.

He reiterated that six students who perform exceptionally well in both SSCE and UTME in the federal constituency will always benefit from the annual scholarship, adding that for a student to continue benefiting from the scholarship, he or she must always write a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 and 3.0 for the institution on a 4-grade CGPA.

He, however, enjoined the secondary school principals in each of the 20 public senior secondary schools in the constituency to forward the best student in their respective schools on or before Monday, September 11, 2023, so as to determine the overall best student to be awarded the scholarship in each of the five communities that comprise Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency
