Data-Lead Africa DLA), a consulting firm, has successfully trained 20 deaf children in various digital skills in the FCT. This achievement was celebrated at the graduation ceremony for the participants of its Summer Boot Camp, named "Digits and Signs for Deaf Kids," held in Abuja.

Ms. Ojone Akor, the Programs Manager and DEI Coordinator at Data-Lead Africa, explained that this four-week boot camp aimed to enhance the digital skills of the children.

The program also focused on promoting inclusivity and social initiatives within the deaf community. Ms. Akor highlighted that the training concentrated on improving the children's IT skills, mathematical knowledge, and programming abilities to prepare them for the future.

She expressed her excitement about empowering these deaf children through the "Digits and Signs" program, introducing them to mathematics and computer skills in this digital age. Regarding the program's future, she mentioned that it was a pilot initiative in collaboration with the Abuja School for the Deaf.

They plan to organize more such programs in the future and increase the number of participants to reach as many children as possible.

Furthermore, Ms. Akor shared that Data-Lead Africa would deploy trainers to support and mentor the children for the next six months to enhance their academic performance.

This effort aims to provide these children with a competitive advantage in a digital world where data and IT skills are crucial. Mr. Bamidele Olaitan, the Assistant Head Teacher of Abuja School for the Deaf, expressed gratitude to the organization for the training, believing that the newfound skills would help these children compete on a global scale.
