Blessing Oladunjoye, the Publisher of BONews Service has emerged winner of the 2023 Reportwomen! Female Reporters’ Leadership Programme (FRLP) of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ).

BrandSpur Nigeria reports that Oladunjoye, known for her outstanding work in advancing the rights of women with disabilities via inclusive journalism bagged the latest award for her undercover report on surrogacy & booming ‘baby factory’ business.

Ms Oladunjoye is a graduate of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, and the overall Best Student of her 2014 set.

The 2023 cohort of the Report Women FRLP Fellowship is a component of the Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement project supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation designed to champion improved representation of women as leaders in news and newsrooms through capacity development for female reporters, and strategic engagement with media executives and staff.

The cohort of the Report Women FRLP fellowship which started in April 2023 with a physical 3-day training and a continued four-month mentorship, had selected 12 participants and supported them to execute leadership projects to enhance the leadership roles of women within the newsroom and published story projects focused on women and girl-child issues.

Among the topics explored are the multifaceted impacts of insecurity on the well-being of displaced women and children, as well as the disconcerting prevalence of human rights violations and unethical practices within surrogacy facilities.
