The people of the FCT don't have the opportunity to vote for who they want to be their FCT minister, which is like a governor of a state, the only opportunity they have is to have a say on who should be the president of Nigeria, by giving that person a minimum of 25% of votes.
One important questions to ask is:
If the INEC chairman think that the people of the FCT votes is not important at all in the presidential election, then why did he allowed them to come out to vote in the day of the presidential election?
If the reason why the people in the FCT votes is for the mandatory 25% in the FCT, then why was that part of the Constitution not implemented?
By just looking at the PEPC judgement, one will wonder of what use or contribution was the votes from the FCT in the 2023 presidential election
Once a court is compromise, they will look for loop holes to apply technicalities in favour of the ruling party. Had it been Peter obi was announced by INEC to have the highest votes but failed to get 25% of votes in the FCT, the PEPC will have used that against him, I am not surprised on how they controversial rule that a hard drugs case is a civilian case

Oga u talked about common sense, but u have failed to apply it... Why on earth will anyone that is sane think fct vote is superior to any other state? What is wrong with some people in this country? If Abuja's vote becomes superior to other state, what then is democracy, which preaches equity, that everyone's vote is equal? What system of government do we call that? U people should rest and accept defeat, Obi should even sue his lawyers, cos u can't tell me that those Sans couldn't interprete simple English stated in the electoral act, or may be they were even working for Apc, cos it looked liked they deliberately bungled the whole thing by leading him on with stupid allegations.

Is FCT a state or not a state? If its a state, it should have the attributes of a state. Why are we complicating things in Nigeria?

FCT is given a status just like some US states with higher electoral college votes than others. Eg California

Oga, electoral college vote does not imply what u are adducing to, electoral college vote was introduced to ensure spread, a situation where by a group will not influence the outcome of an election just because they are more populated than the others, get ur facts well.

FCT is not a federating unit like the rest of the states. It is a special creation at the center of the country for the administration of the government of the federation. That is why all the original people indigenous to the place were relocated with all the land vested in the president.
So, the people empowered to elect the administrator of the FCT are Nigerians from all parts of the country and not just Abuja residents. The FCT is not even up to a state in the real sense. It is a quasi-state and that is why the constitution has to push it up to the status of a state through section 299. So, how can the resident of a quasi-state be more important than the residents of the states that make up the Federation? How can the residents of the FCT be given the legal power to veto the votes of the rest of Nigerians?

The Constitution never gave FCT such powers. The interpretation of Peter Obi and Atiku's lawyers are simply ridiculous and laughable. Any other interpretation other than the one given unanimously by the five Justices of the Court of Appeal yesterday would have amounted to anarchy and chaos.

so what u are saying is a candidate only needs 25% in Abuja, u don’t care if he doesn’t have majority vote or 25% in 24 states?

So if we are to go by what u are saying, it means a presidential aspirant should just focus on Abuja n once he wins it then nobody cares if he loses the rest again

What that implies is that only Abuja votes can make or mark presidential election, then if that is d case

Y vote in other states?
Y not vote in Abuja alone n tell us d winner n we save ourselves d stress?

If that is the case , we should all pack our loads to Abuja to cast our votes since whoever wins Abuja wins all.

you don't know how to read or comprehend, people in Abuja are not more superior to other Nigerians, Abuja votes are not wasted votes but you don't need to score 25 percent in Abuja to be declared president. ABUJA is also like Anambra, no special status, Tinubu didn't even score 10 percent in Anambra yet he appoint a minister from Anambra just thesame way he did in FCT. So anyone that scores more than 25 percent in ABUJA will add it to other States he or she scored 25 percent to determine whether he has 2/3 of all the 37 States. As simple as that

We are still on this matter because some people like the OP have refused to curb their 'imbecilic' ethnic urges and keep disguising it like some patriotic sentiments.

I ask, did we invent democracy or the federal Constitution...is it unique to Nigeria? Why do London, New Delhi, Moscow, Berlin and other capitals not determine who the presidents or rulers of their countries are all on their own?

Any fool can see the idea of the FCT was closely modelled from the USA and Washington DC, which like the FCT was carved out of states to be impartial. Like the FCT they do not have a governor despite the fact that their population is greater than some American states like Vermont and Wyoming. Have you ever heard that DC chose the President of the most powerful country in the World all on its own?

In 2016, Trump got 4% of the vote in the Presidential Election there. Hilary got 90% and was still not allowed to be president. In 2020, Trump still got 5% , while Biden got 95% and became president because he won most of the country's electoral votes.

Anyone who thinks only one territory should decide the fate of any nation is just a big fool and belongs in a place in the past like apartheid South Africa!

By this I mean an immoral or or unfair law cannot stand.

i.e. A contract is an agreement protected in the law however I cannot make a contract to murder someone because any judge will refuse to recognise it no matter how well it is written and executed.

Also, if the APC controlled legislature woke up one day and decided to deal with the disruptive 5%ers, and pass a law in both legislative arms that no Igboman can be president, and even go ahead and pass a constitutional amendment, you that is making mouth that the "law is the law" will you accept it??

Anyway, all our courts will reject it because it is fundamentally unfair and cannot stand because the law is not the law!

Abuja was never meant to be a state. But since Nigerians live there and call it home the constitution ensures they participate in choosing their president like other Nigerians.

You're arguing blindly.

A law that has already been passed is the law whether you like it or not.

How can you make a contract to kill someone when its against the constitution and anything against the constitution stands null and void!

How can you make a law thats against a fundamental human right ready protected by the constitution to say you'll deal with a particular people? If you cannot give reasonable examples to support your assertions, then it means it doesn't make sense in the first place.

I give you a simple example, it is against the law to drive one way(driving on the wrong side of the road) but people could have serious emergency that could warrant that. No matter the emergency, doing it means breaking the law and you can get the punishment specified by the law. Can a judge temper justice with mercy if the reasons are made known, absolutely but thats his prerogative
