Very correct sir. Since 2011 those cargoes have been their for crying out loud. Why? Wasting space for other goods and short changing the economy. My Able Minister, keep doing the good work Sir. And for those wanting to say nonsense please be guided |

Ozommadu: FreeStuffs is not MannaBBQ. That barbecue nigga is a very dumb fvcker! He doesn't give insightful opinions on issues. He just copies other people's opinions, does some surgical works on them, cuts here, joins there, pastes the finished work, then puts his retarded slogan "WE at MannaBBQ bastards want the best for our darling nation, Gbamsolutely", and somehow convinces himself that he has made points worth reading. This one on the other hand, looks for threads that launder the oozing image of the APC, composes and copies his comment somewhere else, then drops the thread, followed by his predictable comment some seconds later, so he'll be the first to comment on his own thread. Then when you make efforts to intellectually engage him on the contents of his own thread, he cries to the moderators like a child who's missing his toy. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Oyetola Condemns Physical Examination Of Cargoes By Customs by Caveatemptor(m): 7:36pm On Sep 07, 2023 |
GeneralPula: The cargoes were not detained by Customs but actually abandoned by the owners because the containers probably contain prohibited or infraction items which physical examination will reveal. Apparently the cost of clearing a container that has been in the ports since 2011 is totally uneconomical to the owners because apart from the duty such containers would have attracted rent costs to NPA. Demurrage charges as well as shippers charges. It is the duty of the Nigeria ports authority to transfer over time cargo from their sheds to the customs government warehouse but they probably did not do this because of the above mentioned demurrage and shipping charges. These issues are complications backed by Nigeria laws which Mr Oyetola might not have received proper briefing by aides in his newly formed ministry. |

FreeStuffsNG:These political leaders are not really interested in upgrading Nigeria’s system, try and watch Border controls and how customs scan containers in places like Australia and Canada before they can be cleared for entry, task the federal government to put modern methods of tracking and scanning containers it will be easier and better for the Nigeria customs to carry out their duties, everything for Naija still remains analogue despite the facts that we are in 21st century where there’s computer systems to monitor everything, go some ministries they will be carrying files up and down when there should be data base to store and upload records |

How will you inspect 100% of all cargoes? Some countries only check 4%. Efficiency to facilitate trade should be the ports prime objective and not as a means of generating revenue. 1 Like |

If he means to not be backing someone’s fishy way of receiving cargoes I don’t see any reason to stop customs from doing thorough physical screening of each cargo. Nigerian politicians be twisting things smh just to defend and cover for some elites 1 Like |
