Not true. Not all local fowl are trained for years before they are killed because the older they get, the more difficult it is to properly chew the meat. Hens stay longer, mainly because they are primarily kept for breeding, while roosters don't live as long, with most being killed within a year.

I have a small poultry operation where I rear chickens for consumption, and I keep some for six months. However, the taste of these chickens can't compare to that of local fowl. While the ones I raise may be larger and stronger, there's a unique taste to local fowl that sets them apart.
