In A Desperate Move, Shaibu Forces His Way Into Obaseki's Personal Office by UdabaPrince100: 6:40pm On Sep 18, 2023 |
In a desperate move, Shaibu forces his way into Obaseki's personal office The Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Monday, attempted to force his way into the personal office of the Governor, along with his security aides. The Deputy Governor arrived at the Office of the Governor, on Dennis Osadebey Avenue, GRA, in the early hours of Monday morning, and tried to confront the governor. Shaibu was, however, told that the governor was not yet in the Office but he insisted on gaining access into the Governor's personal office. All entreaties by the security operatives to him to kindly go back and call the governor if he wanted to see his principal were rebuffed. Instead, he kept pushing the gate, causing a scene. Recall that the Deputy Governor’s Office was relocated to another site some weeks back as a directive was issued for the relocation to a new office located on No. 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, in GRA. Several sources who witnessed the scene said that the Deputy Governor had approached the office with his personal staff in tow and attempted to force the gate open. Narrating the scene, a source, who pleaded anonymity, said: “We were alarmed by the raucous at one of the gates leading to the Governor’s personal office. The deputy governor and a retinue of security personnel and his personal staff were there attempting to force the gate open. He made several calls to different people in Government House about the situation but he was told that the governor was not in the office.” Another source noted that the Deputy Governor despite being told that the governor was not yet in office, insisted on having an audience with the Governor. According to him: “The deputy was told that the governor was not in office, and but he insisted on going in. He came with an agenda and some security operatives in the Government House were present to calm the situation. But Shaibu was livid.”

Me I don't even understand the genesis of this fight. Some folks have claimed that he wanted to install the speaker but there was no time we got a report of that. Some say he is nursing an ambition to succeed Obaseki, but even that doesn't warrant this kind of ugly fight. There has been a history of governor vs deputy, but I do not recall anyone this crude. 1 Like |
