Which Cairo Attractions Are The Most Interesting? by funatkidsparty: 10:29am On Sep 29, 2023
Egypt's capital, Cairo, is an extremely fascinating city. Immensely varied tourist attractions and a progressive outlook persist despite its age. The Pyramids and the Great Sphinx are just two of Cairo's many well-known landmarks. Still, it also has many Places to visit in cairo egypt, such as tranquil felucca rides along the Nile, interesting museums, beautiful buildings, bustling markets, and relaxing shisha cafes. Several of Cairo's top attractions are discussed here.

Best Attractions in Cairo

1. The Giza Necropolis

It is one of the best Places to visit in Cairo Egypt. Situated outside of Cairo, the Giza Necropolis is the site of the enigmatic Sphinx and the well-known Giza pyramids. Don't go there expecting a peaceful stroll through some ancient attraction because thousands of people will be there daily. Camel rides are just one of many services that touts try to sell because of the area's high volume of visitors.

Its most notable features are the three pyramids at the location; the largest and oldest is the Pyramid of Khufu. Menkaure's and Kafre's pyramids are the other two. Although the pyramids are open to tourists, taking pictures there is strictly forbidden. If you decide to enter Khufu's pyramid, be prepared for intense heat and a lengthy, steep staircase leading to the pharaoh's burial chamber at the summit. Seeing the pyramids is a must-do on any trip to Egypt.

2. Cairo Citadel

The Cairo Citadel is a must-see for visitors to Cairo and is typically included in package deals. Overlooking Old Cairo from a hilltop, this impressive complex is a popular destination for Egyptians and visitors. Most visitors come to the Citadel to wander the grounds and check out the historic mosques, but the locals love coming here for the views and the refreshingly cool air.

Like many other ancient Egyptian sites, the Citadel has a rich and interesting past. The site also features several venues, such as the beautiful Alabaster Mosque. Visitors to mosques should dress modestly. Women should cover their knees, shoulders, and hair, while men should cover their shoulders and trousers. It is legal to take pictures inside mosques but avoid doing so during prayer.

3. Cairo Tower

Tourists flock to see the Cairo Tower, one of the city's most recognizable modern landmarks. Originally the tallest building in Africa, it lost that title to South Africa's Hillbrow Tower in 1971 despite being 187 metres tall and 90 stories tall.
There is a lift in the tower, so no need to worry about the steep stairway. Some argue it rivals the Pyramids of Giza as Cairo's most recognizable landmark.

4. Nile River

The Nile is another great Cairo attraction. Because it originates in Uganda, Egypt also enjoys the benefits of the world's longest river.
The Nile River has been, and continues to be, the primary water supply for the ancient Egyptians.
Downtown Cairo's Tahir Square is a short stroll away from the Nile. Stroll along the riverbanks, taking in the fresh air and magnificent scenery.

5. Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum ranks as Cairo's second most popular tourist destination based on annual visitors. Because of its fascinating exhibits, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo draws tourists who might not otherwise be interested in going to a museum.

The world's largest Egyptian artefact collection is in the museum with hundreds of thousands. But remember that the museum only sometimes shows everything. Some are exhibited abroad, while others are stored and only brought out for special events. The museum is well-known for its recently renovated Royal Mummies Room, which features several authentic mummies. Visitors to the museum must buy an additional ticket to enter the Mummies Room. Because there is so much to see, many tourists taking part in Egypt tour packages also return to the museum on time.

6. Khan El Khalili Market

One of Egypt's many attractions is the historic market of Khan el Khalili. Visit downtown Cairo to become completely engrossed in the daily routines of the locals. It would be a shame to visit Cairo and skip this bustling market, the most well-known on the city's streets, which sells everything imaginable.
This is the best place to shop for mementoes in Cairo. Among the many traditional goods on offer are oil perfumes, handmade accessories, gold-coated kitchenware (the vendor may try to convince you that it is pure gold; don't let them fool you), and many others.

Conclusion

Hopefully, this thorough guide to the best Places to visit in Cairo Egypt has whetted your appetite to move you past the Giza region and into the city proper. Which of these places have you been, if any? Contact Nile Empire if you want assistance organizing a trip to Cairo.
