The Nairaland we know today is not what it was 10-15 years ago when it was first created in 2007. Now, Nairaland is used by all sorts of wicked tribal bigots and selfish political party loyalists who spread numerous divisions, hatred and calumny against other tribes. but you and I know that the topics on the front page are too inflammatory and upsurges political hatred. Why should nl render itself as a tool for so much political and tribal divisions. Do they want Nigeria to go into war or crisis wherein a tribe is persecuted or discriminated upon. Are we no longer humans in Nigeria or are some set of people inferior and slaves

Seun the owner of nl is a yoruba man, and from my own observation, the average yoruba person is a tribalist. This is why he's not interested in getting rid of tribalism in Nigeria.

Simple measures he can take like appointing a moderator from any of the minority tribe in Nigeria to exterminate tribalism from Nairaland by banning users who post tribalistic content and ethnic slurs as well as tagging such user profile with a message that displays under their post like that muslim own that follows your every post... The risk of getting slammed with that tag will make users self regulate their content.

Just a simple message like

"I am a tribal bigot. My content are filled with ethnic slurs. Report my post if you feel offended "

Will make every nl member think twice before posting rubbish.

If seun does not take concrete steps to end tribalism on nl, it will get to day when someone from the minority tribe in Nigeria will start a Petition on change.org to close nl or even petition dss, anonymous or other bodies that can use force to shut down the site.

In fact, nl can be sued to court and the court requested to compel the government to shut down nl for promoting ethnic division and tribal wars in Nigeria without adequate regulation.

The options to curb the menace of tribalism is much and it will be explored if seun osewa continues to act nonchalantly towards the issue
