23 yeas ago, precisely in 1988,the then SUG president of the University of Jos led a team of students who rioted against d then military dictator's (IBB) removal of oil subsidy. He termed it, “a crime against d Nigerian masses & a war against d poor”. That SUG president is Mr. Labaran Maku, d current Minister for Information who has said that the removal of oil subsidy is long overdue, what will call that?

Criticizing the government of the day or having a dissenting opinion is a lonely road to walk. It's not for the faint-hearted nor the spineless.

For real? He must have thought nobody would ever recall that incident. But then again he can always say he had since changed his mind.

Why are wo so hypocritical, so if he had an opinion abt an issue in 1988 and in 2011 with new information and facts available to him he should just stick to the old ideas and opinion, what do nigerians really want, what do u guys really want, u ask for change yet you complain when u see change

@marvix, Bet me he is just trying to keep his appointment at the detriment of his conscience, He woundn't have supported the subsidy removal if he was just a layman,

Everyman will always speak with the level of info available to him the level of info available to the average nigerian on subsidy is what activists are saying. Let us all study f subsidy removal and its implications.
