The Bola Tinubu Support Organisation in United Kingdom (BTSO UK) and Diaspora Grassroots Support for Better Governance have donated books and stationaries to Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos, to enhance students’ performances.

Mr Otunba Ade Adeshina, the group’s Director-General, made the donation in company with some members of the school’s 1986 set.

Adeshina said that the gesture was a way of giving back to the school which trained the old students.

He said that one of the agenda of the BTSO UK was to offer quality education to Nigerians.

“As a group, our priority is to be committed to any project that will improve the quality of education in Nigeria especially at the grassroots.

“As alumni of the school, this is our own little way of complementing the efforts of the school in making sure that students are well-grounded academically.

“The school has been impacting the youths; being among the beneficiaries, it gives us great pleasure to work closely with the school.

“It is a delight to give back to the school that made us,” he said.

Adeshina, an automobile engineer, said that the group was proposing donating solar panels to generate power in the school.

The BTSO UK Deputy Director, Mr Segun Iroko, said that the group was convinced that the project would be of immense benefit to the school.

He encouraged other old students of the school to assist the school in achieving quality education.

In his remarks, the Principal of the school, Mr Habeeb Badru, expressed gratitude to the BTSO UK for support.

Badru described the gesture as laudable, saying that donations by different individuals and alumni and groups had helped to bring out the best in the school.

The principal listed some achievements of the school to include representation by its students in sporting and academic activities at both national and global levels.

“Being the winner at the national competition, the students made the school proud by representing the country in the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award for water ingenuity and came second.

“This is a global event that brought together young scientists and innovators onto the big stage in Stockholm, Sweden,” he said.

He called for more support from individuals, groups and institutions.

The school’s Head Boy, Master Mustapha AbdulHakeem, thanked the UK group for the donations and promised that the students would continue to make them proud.
