It seems fuel scarcity is here again as the queue has returned to major filling stations across Nigeria.

This has punctured the argument that total deregulation will lead to an abundance of refined fuel as many independent players would be willing to put their money into the downstream.

Now that subsidy has been removed and filling stations are now at liberty to sell at their convenient price, why is there no fuel?

I think it is high time a crude approach is used to solve this perennial problem since Harvard logic has failed us, why not apply local ingenuity to solve our peculiar problem?

Allocate a percentage of crude oil to each state and deduct it from its monthly allocation and allow them to build their refinery and sell to their people.

Enough of these theories that have failed to yield result

Especially Oil producing states in southern Nigeria. But corruption wouldn't allow them to build it.

The years of dependence on oil have done more damage to the Nigerian government and its people and if something is not done urgently the economy will crumble completely.

Ironically, oil remains the only weapon Nigeria has to turn the fallen fortune of the country since the past governments have failed to diversify the economy.

Rather than share the excess money to state governments that would eventually embezzle it, the government should design a mechanism that would track every allocation going to states and that can be done by tying the money to specific projects such as building refineries in every state

There is no justification for subsidy removal if the state quo would remain.. It would only amount to punishing the masses for the corruption in the oil sector.

Government must do give refinery licence to 36 state government for immediate establishment of refinery

NO. ADOPT FAPRES FOTCS AND CTC FOCS TRFG FIRST. BUT SELL THE EXISTING MORIBUND REFINERIES TO RAD. THEY ARE CERTIFIED NIGERIAN MANUFACTURERS.

Beer parlour suggestions, can you do a search on how much it costs to build a modular Refinery.

State government are not done fixing trunk B and C road, and you're suggesting that they embark on building a refinery. The problem with you internet people, you think it's easy to run a country like Nigeria after decades of mismanagement by previous government since independence, let's assume state governments somehow get the funding to build refineries, how long do you think it'll take the refineries to be up and running from this moment.

I will ignore your rant and break it down maybe you'll be able to comprehend.

Your parent has been giving you money to fend for yourself but you complain each month that the money is not enough after lavishing it on frivolous things.

Then your dad decided to remove some of the expenses by providing the foodstuff that would last you for a month so you could stop complaining of hunger.

It is high time FG stopped dishing out money to states, instead, FG should give some percentage of crude oil to the state with a mandate on local production. Each state can the form a partnership with a private company to process it.

It is easier to siphon state-allocated money than divert oil when private companies are involved

I think the question we should be asking is how much-refined oil does each state consume?

How much does it cost a state to build a modular refinery?

How long will it take to build one?

Having answered those questions will open your mind to the inefficiency of the government both at the state and federal levels.

Let some percentage of state allocation be tied to commodity
