The Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Elvis Ngene, on Friday, 6th October, 2023 inaugurated the newly completed Moot Court and Library facility of the Faculty of Law, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Judge, charged the law students to be deliberate in developing a refined mooting and advocacy skills necessary for insightful investigations, which are important for legal practice; commending them for their sterling performance during the moot court session.

He noted that Moot Court and Library are two major facilities that provide Faculty of Law with the proper equipment for the training of competent legal practitioners, while urging the lecturers to make good use of the facilities to groom the students into competent legal minds.

Justice Ngene further commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Elom, for the significant progress the university has made under his watch, adding that AE-FUNAI is no doubt one of the fastest growing universities in the country.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elom, represented by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha, stated that mooting sessions and Library help students to improve their research abilities and skills in adapting to sudden situations and in dealing with uncomfortable scenarios hence, the purpose of building an ultra-modern Moot Court and Library for the Law Faculty.

He averred that the two facilities respectively, will enable the university to set standard and train the students to become legal practitioners that will contribute in nation building.

He further extoled the Chief Judge and the former governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi for making out time to honor the invitation to the event, while also commending the students for their academic excellence so far.

The facilities would help in preparing the Students to graduate in record time as well as prepare them for law School.

He therefore, pleaded for more support from the university management and guests in providing more relevant books needed in the library to meet the requirements of the Council for Legal Education.

In his goodwill message, the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, who was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Dr. Ben Odoh, congratulated the University management for the massive structures they built for the students.

He further encouraged the students to take their studies seriously to achieve their aim, stressing that all they needed to excel in their career were already on ground, even as he pledged to continually assist the university to achieve more.

Other speakers at the event were the former Governor of Ebonyi state, HE, Chief Martin Elechi and the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof Amari Omaka, who both expressed their satisfactions on the level of academic and infrastructural development in the University.

Highlights of the event was a Moot Court session by students of the Faculty which drew astounding ovations from guests.
