Thanks for your post. Are you able to provide advise or suggestions regarding cheap accommodation (around US$30-35 or so/night) in Jburg? I would be happy with a direct link so I can fulfill embassy requiremnet of paying directly to the hotel/accommodation provider. Also, any ideas about car rentals, please?

We are Pretoria based, am not sure you can get a decent hotel in Joburg for that price range,

I will recommend you stay in Pretoria and travel to Joburg when ever you have to, as you have train services that will properly cost you about $6 equil .

We have a self catering apartment for an equil of 50usd per night, we also issue Reservation which is accepted at the embassy.

I could do about $40, but that's about it, I'm afraid. I could stay up to 2 months and that's why I'm being a fan of savings at this time. I would not mind Pretoria though because, even if it's a mere rumor, I will run far away from Johannesburg if it features anything close to the traffic jams we have in Lagos.

anyways, about the confirmation, can you get it directly from the hotel/apartment/accommodation provider, to facilitate verification if the embassy so wishes?
